Had to Release a Big Bluefin. Ocean city Md

The wide open bites once again have been found and hungry yellowfin. Had one cover up and caught 6 then a few doubles and some single bites. Then the BIG bite came thought we had an Eyeball, however after three hours and 35 pounds of drag we found ourselves letting go a 500 pound Bluefin go!!! So we really thought our eyeball quest had ended today but what a f

    nice trip capt Oughton
sometimes the big one's do get caught!

and for the naysayers, this boat is a very well maintained vessel, very professional crew,
and the fish they catch prove it. one of the best mates and fishiest captain I have had the pleasure to fish with. I was not on this trip, but was on a few trips with them last week, if you want your best chance at fish, these guy's are good.

Congrats on yet another great day out there.

Catching a Bluefin like that is quite a feat and while it might be nice to hoist it up, you're better off not eating them when they're that size, and we're all better off if they're out there swimming around.

Don't get me wrong, when regs allow do what you want just saying that in my book it's the catch that counts as much as the kill on "trophy" caliber fish.

    Pretty work!
