Gulf Water In the North East, Almost?
Been checking the North East Canyon sea surface temps only about every 20 minutes the past month. Pretty much log onto them at work every chance I get hoping to catch the first major break of true blue water coming into the shelf around the Baltimore, Wilmington or Spencer. I finally saw a river flow off yesterday that seemed to be pushing West for about a week. It looked like it was going to hit the Spencer up North possibly by this morning, bringing with it some near 70 degree water, with a 10+ break to the 100 line. 3-5ft with 10-15from the NE on the way out tonight, and same but SW on the way in tomorrow afternoon. It seemed the stars were aligning. Then this am, woke up like a kid on his birthday, checked the chart (www.marine.rutgers.edu) only to find my warm water and first shot at the fish I missed all winter are flowing back into that chunck of gulf too far off the shelf for me and my vessal. I keep checking all day, and hoping that it somehow makes a another move towards the edge. If it does I'll be buying 300lbs of ice, sandwiches, loading 10 50wides, and rehashing stories with a buddy of the fish we caught last year for 3 hours running at in the pitch black at 2am, anticipating that incredible sound when an avet 50 reel starts screaming, or if it doesn't come in today, I'll be at work, reading the charts.
Anyone see any blue water headed into the (Southern Nor East Canyons) let me know.
