February brings cold, windy weather here in Delaware and Maryland. There is no better way to lose the winter blues than to go sailfishing in Guatemala. Buena Vista Sport Fishing offers the experience of a lifetime (www.BuenaVistaSportfishing.com). We traveled with a group of six fisherman. Capt. Charlie, Capt. Leann, and Capt. Mark of Tranquila Sport Fishing in Lewes, Delaware (www.TranquilaSportFishing.com) along with a professional bass circuit fisherman Jim Short, Capt. Kayvan of Reel Desire in Ocean City MD and a friend of his Capt. Skip. We fished 2 boats with 3 people on each boat for 3 days. Over the 3 day period, we raised about 120 sailfish around 100 lbs. each. We released about 60 fish! We even got to swim with the sailfish as they were being released. The resort owner, Jody, and his staff catered to our every need. Staying at the lodge was a relaxing, enjoyable time. If you check out Buena Vista's Sportfishing's website, you will see the lodge is wonderful and complete with a private swimming pool for your group, tiki bar, full staff there to serve you and overlooks the canal. The price is cheap considering it is all inclusive. And, airfare is affordable to Guatemala City. If you are interested in a warm weather fishing trip....Buena Vista Sportfishing in Iztapa, Guatemala is the place!!!

Man, thank god I took a break from doing taxes. What an inspiring report. I spoke to Kayvan about the trip and he said it was a blast. I leave for buenavista on friday. I have beem moderatly stoked about the trip until today. after reading your report and seeing the pictures, I can't wait to get the hell out of here. I am sick of this cold crap. congrats on a great trip.

You will have a blast! They are running just the right type of operation for people who like to fish! Warm weather...cold beer...and a heck of a better time than taxes! Guaranteed. We used your tuna candy in Guatemala by the way. It seemed to work very well. Enjoy your trip and be sure to let us know the details.
Considering running a 45 Cabo out of the Pacific Fins resort during our downtime here on Cape Cod... but the better half deep sixed that idea quickly yesterday.... SOB!
That's a shame your group canceled on you. Guatemala was well worth the money. I don't know much about the resort you mentioned, but can certainly vouch for Buena Vista Sportfishing. If you are interested, try to get another group together...the all inclusive price makes it a possibility for anyone who charter fishes. The sails came up behind our spread and we fed them ballyhoo rigged with circle hooks. The fish were free jumping everywhere. What an experience!
