    Guam report 2008

Fished down south today. Conditions were good but nothing wanted to bite. Tried a few new lures today with no luck. Boated a small skip jack tuna, other than that it was great conditions just not very productive. Didn't make it to 11 mile reef or galves. Will keep posting when I go out.

    Serprise,
I've enjoyed your other thread and check in regularly to see how you're doing over there. Have you ever tried jigging on any of the reefs over there? I've got to think that you could put those senators to work that way

Yes I have tried jigging on some of the drop offs in about 100 to 300 ft. I did hook something big a couple weeks ago but it ran in to the reef and I couldnt get it out. We were thinking it was a big dogtooth or grouper. I have caught a few bottom fish on some feathered rock cod rigs I had left over from a bottom fishing trip out of san diego. Nothing big though.

    another day of fishing

Yet another day of slow fishing. Went out today and got a double hook up on some skipjack tuna and caught one small barracuda over a reef in about 200 ft of water. North swell was pretty big 6-9ft so I stayed close to the island in the south for shelter. Some one went over board today in agana and the coast guard was looking for them all day. I don't know the outcome but my prayers are with them. I'll be back on the water the 9th on a charter boat I reserved for my family and I to go on. I will post again then.

Did you try out any of those hand-made lures?

    Finally fished up north

Fished up north and wow what a difference. We weren't getting much at the drop off so we went deep and found a big group of birds. Looked like tuna and and after the first pass we realized it was skipjack with some yft and big mahis mixed in. We ended up catching 6, big mahi, 9 skipjacks, and one wahoo. We caught the wahoo on the way back fishing 50 fathoms.

Went out yesterday up north again for another awesome day of fishing. caught 6 mahi, 2 skipjack, and 1 wahoo. Most of the time was spent fighting fish and getting to ritidian. Only actually spent 3 hours fishing and one of the guys lost 3 big fish (first timer) so we had a overall good day other than the fact that I got gaffed behind my knee and my toe nail ripped off.

went out today the only difference was no fish and the sun was shinning bright. yesterday it was very overcast and we killed em today sunny and nothing. We ended up bottom fishing after 7 hours trolling with only two wahoo strikes that bit off my favorite skirts. I guess everyday can't be good.
