If any of you commercial fishermen own a Greener Harpoon Gun I am looking for some info. on what powder charge to load the blanks with or where I can buy some blanks at.

Hey 336 if you look at that pic I posted about the blanks it shows the amount of powder in grains. I believe its 14 but it might be 17 I dont remember. Its on the cover at an angle but you can make it out.

    Greener

That pic you posted is the box of shells I purchased with the gun ,they are so old I haven't even tried to shoot them yet.I know it is forteen grains but what I am trying to find out is what type of powder I should use to load some new blanks.Mr. Greener told me that their ols blanks were loaded with Cordite which has not been used since WWII.But I would like to thank you for your interest and help! I just thought some Bluefin or Shark fisherman may have a Harpoon gun that has been loading some new blanks that may be able to give me the type powder and amount.

    Thanks Again

If it helps cordite was generally in stick form looks like un- cooked spaghetti it is slow burning so any modern slow burning powder should work IMR 4330 comes to mind from when I loaded .458 rounds might be wrong on that but go with a real slow burn. Also have you tried contacting a movie or stage props company they make .303 blanks to be fired from a 12ga, using inserts may be the right thing for you, trying to get the crimp right on that brass can be a *******, also if they will make rounds for you you could also tell them the amount of oooooooooooppppppphhhhhhhh you want.
