    yes they work very well for commercial fishing. there is no sport in a green stick.

    You could probably save yourself a load of money and modification to your boat by using just a 130 with heavy mainline.

    There was an article in Sportfishermen years back about it. You would just need a 130 bent butt, a tower with center rod holder, heavy mainline and some squids/birds.

    I know some charter boats that pull a Dangler off the long riggers. Usually a nice white plastic squid that dangles off the main line about 15' from your main bait.

    Used a lot in the Northeast trolling for giant bluefin, and also other species out in the canyons. I know board member Dantilu has a greenstick on his 35 RP. Do a search in the Northeast section, I know that they have been talked about there before..........
