Well you have the choice as to whether or not to believe him. After doing the search and reading what I did, it is quite possible that this school of fish was holding some real gators. I for one have had my eyes opened in the matter and say GREAT JOB to GitchaSome and crew.

Thank You very much, I am not the one to be congratulating, I am just the mate, my boss Captain Pete is the guy to congratulate. We have some of the best business in new england and we are well known for the monster bass we catch, however this time around it was monster blues, some of the biggest he and I have ever seen before.

Don't sell yourself short. You ARE also to be congratulated. Looking at your picture you still are a bit young(compared to some of us older farts) but you will come to realize that a captain can only be as good as his crew allows him to be. Without someone who knows their way around the pit, they're just another guy who can run a boat well and find fish.

Now all you captains please don't send me a rash of crap. I'm just making the point that it's a TEAM EFFORT to keep clients happy. I have great respect for most of you guys.

How do you do it up there? Make your charter clean their own fish while you sit around and drink beer and tell fishing stories? Let me guess...you don't have to wash the boat either

Or maybe you have only fished where they have fish cleaners that charge the charter extra to clean their fish. This is not the case everywhere. Most mates clean fish

Well lets see here. First off, i worked in a marina for 4 years that had no fish cleaning station. I cleaned the fish if they paid me extra, but many days they cleaned there fish....

Oh and ive never cleaned a boat in my life, i wouldnt even know were to start. And almost every half decent marina that i have been in and holds charterboats have fishing cleaning stations.

But, in regards to Gitcha some, i admire him working hard for his charter, i was in his shoes(actually started off on a similar boat) and hard work will get you were you wanna be.

So hope this answers your question Fish 4 bills.. Have a nice day Dum azz

No mate in Delaware or OC Maryland cleans fish. There are fish cleaners at every marina. Most mates don't like it when they get NJ charters that get pissed for having to pay for fish cleaning.

Actually at OCFC some of the mates started cleaning fish last year when they became disatisfied with Rose's service (I never had any problems with Rose- for the record). This year most boats used Stan (Rose's replacement).

If I am not mistaken, aren't there fish cleaning services in Hatteras, Oregon Inlet and MHC as well? I also know that there is a fish cleaning service in Cape May.

In the places I fish out of, the mate cleaning the fish is the exception rather than the rule, but I know that is not the case everywhere. Personally I think that the fish cleaning service is a benefit to the charters. This way the mate doesn't have to rush through the fish cleaning so he can get back to bait prepping, boat washing and what not.

We dont charter a whole lot a few trips a year for our group, we have had it both ways...if the mate did the whackin...he got some extra cash ontop of his tip, been out on a few from cape may once for seabass and we paid the cleaners...but there were 12 of us and a whole lot of filleting to be done lol, and this springs drum trip....honestly none of us had ever even drum fished before and we kept 9 up to 85 lbs..so we paid 4 bucks a fish and watched how he did it.
