Good Tip
Soooo, we got back from fishing a little while back and the 100 gallon fish box on my boat was full of fish covered with lots of melted ice water mixed with salt water and mixed with enough fish blood that this soup was about 2.5 feet deep and solid red. Naturally, while unloading the fish I forgot my phone was in my top pocket and there it went totally submerged in 2.5 feet of ice cold fish bloody water. I grabbed it out of the water and separated the battery from the phone. I then took a quart size Ziploc bag filled with raw rice and put the phone and the battery in the middle of the rice and zipped it closed. 24 hours later I tried it and several functions on the phone did not work (you'd be surprised how many phone numbers have a 5 in them) so back into some new rice for another 24 hours. Well guess what, the cell phone now works perfect; as good as when I bought it used on ebay. |

Interesting tip, thanks. I have sent plenty swimming myself. I think I went through 6 Razors one year...

I'll have to try that one myself. Splashed one in my bilge a couple years ago in the Bahamas. Lightning quick recovery, went centrifuge with my arms shaing it out, battery off and both sections laid on a nice warm manifold... Went to the room, sat it over lightbulb in a lamp and it all came back... I had won except a little fog in the window...
Went the extra mile and sat it at base of mini fridge in room where it was blowing warm dry air... Some time later that night. Bag of wahoo that wasn't sealed 100% flopped over and leaked out. Made its way out of the fridge to the phone... Started dialing numbers by itself at $2 a minute Bahamas BATELCO rate... ![]() I was forced to euthenize the poor little phone. Next time i'll try the rice...

I had the same luck once (used a hair drier not rice). Only lasted a week though. Hope yours makes it!

great tip...as i was reading i couldnt help but laugh about the time I had a little too much the drink. As I was relieving myself, my 2500.00 test phone ( I work for a cell phone company) decided to come to life, jump out of my pocket and into the toilet. I quickly turned the hose off and plunged my hand into the bowl. What happened next? I turn the sink on and rinse the phone off under the faucet.
Duh....needless to say, it never worked again!
