GOING TO PORT LUCAYA ANY MARLIN YET?

Clients want me to take them to Port Lucaya from Feb 12th to the 18th. Just wanted to know if any Marlin or Billfish are around yet. They (HATE) ONO'S/WAHOO'S so I have to find them Marlin or Yellowfins if i can.

Tough pick on billfish out of there... If you go over to issacs you might drum one up. Possible sails if you round the corner by west end... There is a section of wall well to the south that I have raised and caught a few but thats 45 miles. Either issacs or that south wall may have yellowfin too. West end will be sails, and some blackfin in between the wahoos. .
The Chub cay pocket is 72 miles and would be the very best bet but its a long haul. If you go there aim at Rusell Beacon then NW litght. Don't try to run straight line as it will shallow up too much to be safe...
Start at the light and work south keeping in 600-1000' and you should be clear of the wahoos. I like to stay within three miles or so of the light at that end of the pocket as that is where I see most action. Three miles east of the light on that wall is a place called yellow bar that also holds fish but that time of year a lot of hoos. Its recognized by almost a surface breaking "yellow"sand bar.

Lucaya is not really great Marlin fishing.....

That time of the year there are plenty of "Pink Snapper" running around the square there !!!!

    you have another option...

make a good days run to great harbor and clear customs then get on to the dutch bar off spanish wells the net day and fish off harbour Island and james point you will find tunas and have a good shot at billfish. or you can sit off our coast here and see if they can pull a swordfish... they are great right now

You'll have to run to get any opportunity at Marlin and Tuna from Lucaya...Was just there about 10 days ago...Not many landlocked Pink Snapper around...And Tuna are kind of scarce in Tuna Alley...Did here of some YF just to the north of Berry Islands...Hole in the Wall or the Matinella corner hold Tuna and Marlin at times but can be a long run from Lucaya...Just depends on your range...The pocket, as Deep stated is good too.

Check around the fuel dock at Lucaya for live bait...Did see massive schools of big Pilchards and ThreadFins...Also, saw goggle eyes too...Catch them on sabikies or hair hooks with sm piece of shrimp.

    Good Luck
