Hey JonnieD, I'll take a few of those "nuisance" tunas off your hands any day.

Way to go on your catches last few days. Must have been fun.

If they are chewin on the triple zero's off N.C, or in the Tom's Canyon then thats where we will be. Some of the guys dont care what it takes to get to the fish, and some people dont care about numbers, or going around the world to catch a fish, so this keeps me from overcharging or undercharging. Carolina Ride. We burn 100 gallons and hour at 34 kts. I run the boat at 1800 rpm, which is about 105 gph and 35-35.5 kts. 62% load, weather permitting.
Hobie 2. Hey Buddy I woulda been on here to write a report sooner, but when we are not fishing we do maintenence. So today we cleaned, waxed and I changed the oil and cleaned the engine room. I will try and get u a report sooner next time. Jon

The action was very consistent until early afternoon for everyone there. We ended up catching 11 out of 20 whites on sunday, and we hooked and fought the largest yellowfin tuna I have ever seen. I guessed him at close to 200 lbs. We had the leader a few times and he was still black backed and swimming downsea. Finally chafed him off after an hour before I could get my guys into gaff range. The man of the hour was really Mark Jr. On the Marli for calling everyone in on the bite. He ended up with 11 as well, and Willy On Playmate got 13. The Insure caught 17 by 2 and went home early, very happy. The next morning we headed straight back to where we finished up the day on the 615 and 157 and not 2 minutes after putting the last bait in the water we marked a whole family of marlins and put her in a turn and got covered up. We caught a triple to start the day and it was steady bites until 11 am. Our bites were all pretty much on top of the exact spots from the day before. A few encounters were on the 615 an 153. We made a 1 mile jump and set back out on the inside of the grass and found the sailor gulls picking pretty strong and quickly had a good number of bites. They kept coming until 1;30 and we had let 23 go by then. The Tunas popped up and demolished our spread and before we could get our stuff away from them we had hooked 2 finally got the 2nd 65-70 lbr. in the boat after a 25 min delay. The rest of the day was fairly slow, a few singles here and there and we called it a day around 530. Ended up going 26 for 45, and got a couple tunas. The day was incredible and broke our old boat record by 2 fish and i need to thank my mate John Prather and guest mate Chris Hornung. The whole day went so smoothly and thats hard to do with such an incredible bite going on. They never fell behind once all day. It was awesome to watch. Our charter also deserves many kudos. They did and awesome job catching the whites and horsing in those nuisance 70 lb. tunas so we could get on catching real fish. Randy and Kevin had their guys really on point all day. Anyhow, by the end of the day the grass had pushed in on us and the water was beginning to blend out and we werent marking fish anymore. Our hopes were high for today, but we got blown out this morning. We are going to try it agian tomorrow.
Probably the most informative and best report that I've ever read on here...pretty work John D, Prather, Chris and your charter on a ridiculous and unforgettable day. World class fishing in your own backyard...LOVE IT.

BTW, that's Chris that was on the Moore Bills next to us in Morehead City, right? He's a good dude if it is who I think it is...

Jonnnie is out there today, and probably tomoro too, so I will answer some of the questions.

Yup it is Chris from the Moore Bills- and I second the "good guy" comment. He is a top notch addition to an already awesome crew. I have known Chris for years, and had the pleasure of having him mate for me once or twice. Definitely top shelf.

Jonnie fishes TLD30's as far as I remember.

I believe he is going to Isla this year, I forget whether it was him or Prather that told me, but I am pretty sure he will be there in Feb.

Finess does have 40 or so- there was a glitch on the club website that had (2) different Finess boats due to a spelling error. The 2 totals should be added together.

I got to sit down with Chris for a little bit yesterday, along with Justin and Willie off of the Playmate, Chad from the All In, Jason from the Ranger and Jason from the THat's Right. Great info sharing session on a windy day. We talked riggin, hookin and a little bit about drinkin. With the exception of Chad (who is my generation) these guys are what I consider the younger generation on the docks- they aren't the youngsters anymore, but they are what I would call "in their prime." I learned a few new tricks and hopefully shared some of my own. Great time.

Can't wait to hear how they bit today!!

Capt Jonny: The above report is the epitome of class; alot of things have to go right for a day like that and your sharing of credit with those with you and around you was right-on. Really nice job as your results from the bridge speak louder than any words...

Quick boat you have there, may I ask you about how many turns get you 30 knots burning how much fuel?

    Thanks, and again, super job!!

    How many flags you carry?

We go with 25 whites, at least 5 blue marlin and 5 sailfish flags.... Now granted, we have never needed more then one bm flag and a sailfish flag has not been flown in a LONG time, but it is good to know that we have them if they are needed?. I may need to go buy some more with reports like this.
