well guys i must say that i am about to go completely crazy! i havent been on the water in over a week, due to the tropical wave that has pushed through our area. in the last week we have had anywhere from 15 to 30mph winds, 5 to 7 feet seas, and rain. the last time we went out was last tuesday, we got in about a half a day, and caught a limit of red snapper, a couple of kings, two black tips that were pushing 100lbs, and a pile of bonito. about the time we got to the amberjack rigs the sky turned black, so we headed in trying to beat the storm, but it caught up with us. from then we had a three hour ride in 7 to 8 ft swells, needless to say it was pretty scary. on the way in we saw schools of chicken dolphin chasing flyers from swell to swell. once we made it in we saw coast gaurd at the launch and found out that a boat had capsized and a woman drowned. the other three boaters were rescued from an oil rig. we were just happy that the good lord got us home. throughout the ride in i kept repeating the quote from beowulf,"the sea is my mother she will never take me back to her murky womb". i dont know why but it gave me confidence that we were going to make it. on that day i watched the seas go from less than a foot to 6 to 8 feet, that was a lesson i will never forget. anyway this weekend is supposed to back to 1 to 2 ft so ill be on the water sat and sun, thank god. until then im stuck in my office watching it storm and reading all these awesome reports of monster fish wishing it was me.
