    Angry Glued to the Dock

    Well...
I completed repairs and standard up keep on the Deep over the last couple weeks. Shark kits are done, offshore kits are done. I have been working hard on the seminars and today was supposed to be a change of pace... I was actually gonna go fishing. Bigeye10 is in town and our plan was to hit the briny.
This is May in Florida. Its supposed to be painfully calm and dodge thunderstorm stuff... Well, we didn't get that. Instead the winter that never came is for the second time this month lashing our shores with just too much breeze... Noat the 15' stuff from a couple weeks ago that was tossed off by that first storm of the year. Just a steady 20 or so from the north east that has it stacked up around 6-7' which is just too much...
Was hoping to get out and do some string strtching but I'm not the kind who's into just going for a painful boat ride. Some guys might have tried just to get a days pay but the risks of hurting some one when you get in the trough even for a few seconds out weights the benefit... Maybe tomorrow...

Sorry to hear the weather isnt on your side..hopefully you will be able to make it out soon. Good to hear the deep is ready to roll again!

If you dont mind explaining...what do you consider your offshore and sharking kits? What do these kits contain?

Billions and billions of sneaky things...

Shakin kits consist of pre made rigs, skirts, pre twisted leaders, loose hooks, pre tied back hooks, special scent extracts, tailropes, bands, baloons, spare out rigger clips, "sleepy maker", gloves, waterproof firecrakers, camera, spare wire, spare chumbags, line to string bluefish racks on, and other stuff...

Blue water kits are a few of them. Rigging bag has leader, crimps, snaps, spros, copper, monel, crimpers, hooks from 8/0-14/0, chin weights, knife, stone, needles, floss... That goes in on top of more leader, spare lures, tail line, camera, tag lines, bands, outrigger clips, pre made dink rigs, pre made combo rigs, pre cut leaders, hooked leaders with open ends, secret maps, gps, handheld vhf, flags, and other stuff... That sits next to my teaser bag which has daisy chains, dredges, bowling pins, rubber hoos, stripteasers, dbl ended clips, quick rig pins, and other sneaky stuff. That one sits next to my tuna bag which is feathers, bullet heads, jets, cedars, squids, and even jigs. Then we get to the bag of death lures which has a volley of my favorite marlin baits from all time. There are actually two bags of this stuff. One is of new goodies while the other bag is full of my "scuffs" which are tried and true and havge a minimum of a few bites at least on each...

Its tome to slide north and beat on the makos til my fists scream with pain...

If I was him... I'd just start trolling to west end. Supposed to be 20-25 atleast til the weekend and possibly later...
Most of December and January that wind got stuck out of the east to south east at 15-20... Slowed the sails, made for some uncomforatble conditions, and with the warmth up north kept the visitors away. February we got more on schedule but when it dod go to the east quarter she seemed t hang there longer than most frontal cylces. March was a total blow out. If not for Chub and its protected angles about half of April was unfishable. We had that freak spring sub tropical storm get seas unfisably big for a week or more. Now we are stuck at 25 again ene and its just plain shitty out there.
I'm already stuffing Mamba2's and Teardrops in my car. Busting down my tackle to travel size. Charging batteries for cameras and gps and pocket tv. Digging through my closet and picking out all my lucky sharkin clothes and folding my canyon clothes neatly.
The boat went back on the rack and I pulled her drain plug so I don't wear the batteries oout with her bilge pump during the summer. I picked up some instant coffee, peanutbutter and jelley... I am so ready to get out pf this wind tunnel I'm not sure if I can wait til Wednesday...

I know its very frustrating...so when and where are you heading when you go North?

What all do you take when you go sharking, do you carry all your own tackle? Rods, rigs chum bags the whole 9 yards? Also what boats do you work on? Hope to maybe see you in Cape May this summer.

Headed to Jersey... All over the place... I offered my sharkin skills for freelance work and booked out early this winter. Different boat most every day. I run a 36 Luhrs most often up there. We usethat one for mako mania and OCWMO... Maybe even MA500 if we get a crew together.
First month of trip is all mako then we switch to the marlin/tuna tournament circuit...
I tote a mountain of stuff... Self sufficient self contained city so to speak. I bring a full set of tld25's, another full set of 50w, three 80w, and some spin rod outfits. I will bring my class visual aids. One cooler for food/soda/meat and another for baits...
Since I kinda live in my car on the road, a pocket TV , laptop, vidcamera, still camera, sleeping bag, pillow, foul weather gear, and changes of clothes/ shoes.
A few hundred pieces of my lures will ride along for sale. Then the kits...

Sharkin kits consist of pre made rigs, skirts, pre twisted leaders, loose hooks, pre tied back hooks, special scent extracts, tailropes, bands, baloons, spare out rigger clips, "sleepy maker", gloves, waterproof firecrakers, camera, spare wire, spare chumbags, line to string bluefish racks on, and other stuff...

The back compartment of my car has a cleaning kit with sharpeners, knives, bags etc...

Road emergency kit consists of atf, oil, radiator stop leak, coolant, tranny stop leak, tire plug, jumper box, tools...
