Talking Giving Away 1,000 $$'s in BahamaLure / Squid Nation / Offshore Innovations / Woody Wax products

How do you win some of this loot? Read below.

    Tim Hand,

Who is he and why is he here?

I am happy to announce the arrival of one of the hardest working SOB's I know to the www.sportfishermen.com family

I met Tim when I first started this company, he was at the time the owner of Hand's and Hand's too in Cape May NJ. One of Tims faults if it is one, is he can be Hard Headed and he at the time was very loyal to another web site who started out at the same time he did. Although he didn't become a part of our community at the time, Me and Tim became good friends over the years. After Tim bought Capt. Tates he started to become more active here and you could find his audio reports, and fishin reports on here.

Business fail for many different reasons and Tim's pride might not want me to talk about it. But he got screwed by the State of NJ when they put that bridge construction out in front of Tate's. Tim pushed on and added a kitchen to Tate's that had some of the best take out around. His breakfast sandwiches would make you wreck your truck, trying to eat it on the way to the boat.
One thing Tim couldn't overcome was the stress that started to eat away at him. Finally he was hospitalized and had to have a chunk of him removed and sewn back up. Actually if you ask him he'll tell you that this was a blessing, over the past year. Dr's have found a tumor they removed and a debilitating blood disorder that is now under control. So with the health issues and the weak economy Tim has closed Tate's doors and it is for sale.

That's great but why are you wasting my time reading this? you ask.

    Well,
Over the past year and a half Tim and I have spent countless hours trying to find a way to bring him into www.sportfishermen.com. He has been here behind the scence, You have seen him shooting photos and as that big mass on the web cameras shooting photos @ the WMO, Mid Atlantic 500, SJ Shark and Tuna tourney and most recently my prescence at the Brendan Borek High tides Tourney where he gave out the Junior Angler Awards and shot photo's.

Tim has taken on a larger roll.

First and foremost he is your go to guy at http://www.sportfishermen.com/shop/ so if you are looking for products or you have a product you want in our store. Tim can be reached @ tim@sportfishermen.com or call 888 264 1755. Remember everything you do at our store will be used to grow the site and will be a benefit to you the members.

Many of you on this site from NJ, PA, MD and Delaware know Tim and know what he stands for. He has worked extremly hard trying to get this store under way. Please don't be afraid to ask if you need something you don't see or can't find. He works like an owner not an employee.

His role also includes helping the site to grow content and help with day to day site issues. Got a problem see Tim. Tim's arrival open's me up to do what I do best, Making this site the greatest show around for you our loyal members and advertisers cause we will grow and continue to provide you all with the latest and greatest in Sport Fishing on the web.

There is a lot more to come, Some very exciting things in the works. Tim is a LARGE (literally) piece to the new vision for the future. I believe in him and know he will work to make www.sportfishermen.com an even better place

Last Saturday I discovered that one of my bilge pumps had failed. I installed my spare, then had to get a replacement for the spare. I hit a couple of boating related stores in MHC - got a look at prices, and figured that I'd wait until I got home and looked here. The price on the same pump was $30 less on Sportfishermen.com, so I ordered two. I got my order yesterday - Couldn't ask for better pricing and quicker service.

I received my binoculars from the sportsfishermen store very quickly. I got to use them most of the hunting season. They worked great!!!! A great pair of binoculars at a great price. I see they are on sale now. Very good deal.

Welcome aboard Mr Hand from the BeagleFamily

This has to be my new favorite fishing pic. I took it two days ago while we were headed up the Congaree River. RatMan just loves to be in the boat, but she gets cold easy, and enjoys the warmth of BeagleMans coat for the ride up the river.

    1st off..

I'd like to Thank Tim for his dedication to his business'
I am a long time customer of Tates and Hand's tackle shops.
Every fall and spring on our way to the boat located at bayway marina right down the street from tates, we would stop in shoot the breeze, and pick up our fresh bunker , clams, or live spot. Not to mention I weighed in my 53.3# striped bass caught this past fall at non other but the famous CAPTAIN TATES. Thanks for all the great service.

any way.. on to the photo.
this is me and my pops during the 2007 Duke of Fluke Tournament, we took 3rd place for 5 heaviest fish with 22.5#

Pops was the man who taught me to fish and more importantly how to be a man. These days he finds me giving him fishing tips, funny how life works.

I made my first purchase from the SFC store when the announcement was made that Squid Nation was added to the store. I had placed my order and everything was delivered to my door promptly. I got a note from Bill about a product that was out of stock, but he more then made up for it. For now on, if I need to purchase a product, it will be through the SFC store. Where else can you buy a product and the money spent goes back into making something better for you? Easy, the SFC ship store. Thanks admin, jer, Tim, and everyone else behind SFC that keeps this site going strong........

Tim, congrats on earning the respect from your peers to take on such an exciting and powerful project such as this one. That alone speaks words about your work ethic and your desire to make this an even better website. This is already a phenomenal place and I'm sure it will only continue to get better. I look forward to watching this beast grow.

Now, as far as a family fishing photo...

Below is a picture of me and my pops holding his first White before releasing her. This was probably the most memorable fish of my life time. We went 2 for 3 on Whites that day and both my brother and pops got to release their first Whites. We also had some husky YFT on the troll to 95#. Popping two cherries in one day is one of, if not the biggest highlight of my fishing career. Sure I've had better days, with more action and larger fish, but these two releases meant the world to all three of us.

I live to fish much much much more so than both my brother and father and it was cool to share with them my favorite fish (any billfish), on the same day only a few minutes apart fishing off of Jersey in a 24' Center Console.

I hope it doesn't matter if I attach two pictures, but here is also the shot of my brother and I with his first.

    Tim,

Sorry to hear about your recent problems. But you've heard of "a blessing in disguise", haven't you? Well, even though it was obviously a painful one in a lot of ways, there's a blessing in all of this that you've probably already realized, but I just wanted to mention it.

That blessing was you winding up here and working with one very dynamic and talented man and his partner. (I'm not kissing butt here. John knows me better than most do and he knows I don't do that sort of thing - probably to a fault, no less.) And you have joined where the tackle industry is firmly on its way to and the truth is, there will be no stopping it. Sure, there are some companies out there, including their ad agencies, that either can't see the writing on the wall, or are fighting the inevitable for various reasons...change is like that for many people (I for one know that for sure!).

In many cases, their innaction is caused by that, but sooner than later, the chickens will come home to roost and the rewards for being on the leading edge and all of the hard work will pay off. Yeah, it's going to take some time, but take it from someone who has been involved in this industry for most of his life, has been a big player and a small one (I like that the best for a lot of reasons) and who knows many of the big guys, change is here and the big shots are going to see it.

Long ago John and I used to talk about this very thing and the changes that could and would come, albeit slower than he would like in long phone conversations late at night that went on and on and on. I told him that it would be hard and gave him some of the reasons why, told him some things that he probably didn't want to hear, and perhaps even a suggestion or two - mostly "brilliant" stuff like, "work hard at it", "build a great site", "Stay tough, but don't get discouraged" and some other things that he already knew. I really wasn't much help. But I knew that if someone in this business could bring it off, it was going to be this tough, bullheaded guy.

Well, it looks like things are in the home stretch finally and guess what? You are now on THE most likely team to bring change to an old, archaic industry into the new age.

Yeah, Tim, there are such things as blessings in disguise, and you know what?

    You just found one.

Congratulations, good luck, and once again, I'm sorry that the "disguise" had to be such a tough one...but you are in a great, new home now.

    Good luck, guys!
