I think they are all great! Guess you will have to send them one of each! I sent them a limited edition canvas giclee of one of my paintings also! I do it every year. I'm a big supported of TBF.

#3 is amazing. If that doesn't put a smile on your face I don't know what will.

A close second is the helicopter shot... my $.02

I really like the shot from the chopper. They are all nice, but that one is a unique/rare shot.

Guys, I appreciate all of your input. I emailed Julia over at TBF and also asked her what she thought- the sailfish silhouette vs. the chopper shot. She may have an idea about what might fetch the most for TBF, and I'll let you know what her vote is.

This has been fun for me because I usually do not get to get any input on photos, other than what I get from editors. It is fun to talk to real people who enjoy the photos from a different perspective. It will definitely help me in my future shoots.

Tx !

If I had to choose only one, it would have to be the silhouette. All are fantastic shots, you are a truly lucky/skilled individual. I also enjoyed reading your article in Marlin, I tend to open the magazine and skim through it before reading everything, and yours was the first one I dug into.

Bill, Thanks very much for the kind words. I had a great time in Nicaragua, and I'm glad you enjoyed the article. It's a thrill to be writing and shooting for that magazine and the guys that are running it are a pleasure to deal with. It's also really neat to be interacting with people who have actually read my articles. I don't get to do that much when I am back here in CA.

As soon as I get some time to transcribe the interviews I did with some well known captains and a scientist in Kona, I am going to write a feature on fishing for spearfish in Kona. I was lucky enough to get some great underwater shots of the rarest of all billfishes and it led to a pretty comprehensive research project.

It was fun tagging along with Captains Gene Vanderhoek, Marlin Parker, and Guy Terwilliger. Amazing how they have such different approaches in their choice of riggings and tackle.
Tx again Bill,

THE WINNER HAS BEEN CHOSEN!

Guys and girls, after a lot of great input I decided to go with #5, the sailfish silhouette. I really appreciate all of your input. I said it several times I think but it's worth repeating- it's fun to actually talk to real people who are looking at the photos, rather than just submitting them to the editors. The web is cool for that, and I have to figure out a way to get input more often..

Just to follow through, you can see the photo on The Billfish Foundation's auction site. The online bidding has already begun. Here's the link for the curious:

Thanks very much for all who participated!

I like the last one , Not overpowering for the average house. I view that my wife would let me hang it anywhere in the house not just the Man cave

re: shot

Hotshot, that is hilarious you said that. First marlin I caught, which strangely enough happened to be on a kayak, I got a mount/replica. Wifey was all good with it until I got home with it. It ended up in my small room and dwarfed everything in it. Eventually I brought it to my 3rd grade classroom here at school and it works perfectly here.

Here's a random small yft shot.

Pic #1, but I wish it was one of the thirty or so you shot for us at Casa Vieja Lodge last Christmas.
