So what do you do if a fish breaks off and is left with that rope lure all tangled up in its jaws ?

Nothing you can do unfortunately. I've had 1 out of over 100 to break off this year. I use 50lbs Spiderwire Stealth for line so it doesn't often happen. It's like any other kind of fishing, a few won't survive the encounter.
