    full moon tuna fishing

I am going to the bahamas very soon and it would be nice if anyone could help me out. My question is how does the full moon affect tuna? Should I fish early morning, late afternoon, or even at night? Chunk, Jig,live bait, or troll? Any information would help.
Bad day of fishing is still better then a good day of school

The June full moon should be the best Blue Marlin bite of the year in the Bahamas.

We are planning on Marlin fishing too, but just trying to figure out if the tuna will be worth it.

I would chunk at night, that would probally be the ticket on getting alot of action. The full moon will bring the squid up to the surface at night, find the bait, find the fish. You will also probally have a good amount of luck trolling early in the morning.

    Which island?

early morning and late afternoon is best to target...However, some days that doesn't matter....You will have a strong AM outgoing tide with the full moon...Run and gun until you find birds...find the birds and you will find the tuna schools...Most of the time they are fast moving...Getting in front of the school is so important and keeping up with them is too...Chuck, jigging, live bait and trolling all work...So have multiple rods ready for action...Good luck!!!

PS-Don't even try chunking at night...Sharks can be a real big problem...And it can get real tricky navigating at night in the islands.

Fish to the north of Great Iaachs and Gingerbreads...Its called Tuna Alley...run and gun...find the birds and set out your spread...Or get in front of school, turn off engines and chunk, live bait and/or jig em or cast out your poppers...You might have to decrease your leader strength to get dialed in.

You can find goggle eyes by the old chalks ramp and/or just outside the Big Game docks...just look for the balls of bait clouds in crystal clear semi shallow water...they can be finicky too...dusk or dawn is best time they feed...go stealth mode with light line and bare min sinkers on sabikis or sm gold hooks w/ a little skrimp...Or you can try for pilchards on south Bimini in the canal leading to the ferry dock (north side of island)....sometimes they are just to small to use....Live bait can be hard to come by in Bimini most of the time...If your coming from Fla, its best to catch or buy your live bait and bring it to the islands...It can be your saving grace.

Good luck and fill us in on your report.
