    FT MEYERS FLORIDA..

    ANY WEST COAST FLORIDIANS AROUND!?

think the wife wants to visit her grandmother the snow bird down in fort meyers beach in march and i got to find something to do down there and she gave me the go ahead to leave her the cc and go fishing!!

where do i start?! see they got a ton of bottom fishing boats but dont want to get shoulder to shoulder on a bottom fishing party boat..

any suggestion without spending an arm and a leg for a charter boat!?

I used to run a boat in Fort Myers.

Red Grouper is closed until March 14th. Gags until the end of March. You can go pull on some AJs and maybe get into some mangrove snapper. Kingfish should start running about that time too. If you want offshore, you could get on with Capt Rick Featherstone http://www.magichook.com/ He runs a centerconsole and can get you out there faster and cheaper. I don't recommend any of the head boats unless you want to catch grunts (they call them grey snapper).

If you want to do some inshore for reds and snook, call Les Achilies 239-671-1819. He or his brother Chris are good guys. Tell them I sent you.

Where on the Beach are you staying?

Thats fine if you want to cruise around. It would be tough to go catch anything if you have never been there.

Let me know if you need any other info.

If you want something bigger, talk to Les about catching a goliath grouper off the causeway. http://outdoorsbest.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=821696

    Mrs. Capt-D, Liam and Avery!
Fish tales marina 3/4 the way down the beach rents boats. They dont let smaller boats out of the back bays so keep that in mind if you wanna bottom fish in the gulf. I have a set of published numbers somewhere for some gulf spots.

If you wanna fish the back bay areas hire a guide first than rent the boat the next day for some freedom. I tried it blindly the first time down there with not much luck! Hire a guide first than rent!

and because im a nice guy here is the chart pack you would need for the back bays http://ocsdata.ncd.noaa.gov/BookletC...art_HomeEd.pdf

if you want the chartpack for the Gulf its 11426 http://ocsdata.ncd.noaa.gov/BookletC...art_HomeEd.pdf

He is one of your fellow Jersey boys living in South Florida. Tell him Adam from the "Reel Madness" sent you. Joe is a great guy and knows the Ft. Myers offshore bottom. Joe can take you to the meat. Ask him about his WAY OUT trips for the deep water groupers. Only gags, reds and black grouper are closed in Feb and March. You can still do scamp, snowys, warsaw and snapper.
