I love that area! head down to the bridge that goes to Sanibel island. Its actualy a couple of islands that connects the bridges. Take some fresh shrimp and catch some pinfish on tiny hooks. Use the pins to catch the BIG stuff! Lotta sharks, rays, jacks, with a few snook. Use whole shrimp to pic up trout, flounder, pompano, ect. Just keep the shrimp movin (float or light weight with some slow reelin) Had a blast last year and will be back down in Feb.
Bridge toll will cost you $6 so bring every thing you need. You can pull off the road right on to the beach and its packed shells so its car friendly. If things slow up walk to the bridge bulked and cast some cut bait into the deep water. Use live Pins their too but hold on to the rod! Some Huge Fish lurk down under. South side of islands seems to produce better than north. Morning is best, but sharks roam strong at night. Great location and even has bathrooms!
Wire leaders with live pins are a must. Unless you like to buy plenty of tackle! Did I say SHARKS!
Real fisherman Don't feel sorry for the Bait!
Heres a Fort Myers fishing pier catch. My rarest yet. Live shrimp on a slow reel.! SMALL TOOTH SAW FISH (bay)
