Slipped out the inlet into a gorgeous ocean and conditions. Fleys all over and it smelled like a red hot day in the making... Our spread looked great but like yesterday the fish were slow to start.
I snuck out to the deep as the inside radio was quiet, I turned back in at about 700' ... At 550 I looked back to see the bill of a slob blue waving over my right rigger. It backed off then came back at it three times without ever eating. The herarts were pounding but the big girl just wouldn't eat... Finally she just slipped back into the deep...![]()
We gave more passes but nothing else wanted to raise. We slid back toward the beach and the day saver screamed out. Kelly our lovely angler worked it out and we decked a way fat florida style skippie of 20lbs...
The day continued to be quiet and about two oclock we raised a sail that gave just one swat. An hour later we whiffed on a cuda and had a mystery bite. We had a final sail raise and again a whiff. I was thinking with all the flyers around the fish may have just been gorged. When you run through schools of dolphin fish and they won't even look at the spread and stay focused on the flyers not much left to do but say oh well. So that was our day.![]()
