    Dawn fish!

    Cool Friday WMO

I fished the last day on a Charter my friend had hired for the WMO.
Looked like it was going to be better than the WX man had predicted? Got to the dock at 4, Captain arrived at 4:30.
Other 2 slept on the boat, we are all ready to go at 5, one problem, where's the mate/part time Captain STILL IN BED ! Captain calls wakes him up, shows up around 5:30
So we're on our way, plan to hit the 30 fathom line to target tuna.
Arrive early, tuna breaking all around but we can't do crap about it
Finally comes time for lines in and nothing to be found anywhere.
We were marking bait and tuna down deep all day we had mystery bite, from the way the HOO looked probably a Wahoo??????
That was it for the day. From the chatter on the radio not much catching going on anywhere around us.

I did get to put the gaff to good use, saw something floating along side we circled back around and BAM got it
Someone must have had an accident, my favorite drink!

Couple other pic's of the day

On the way out Sorry a little blurry

    Laid down nicely

Weird occurance on the run in. Shoes off I was climbing up to the bridge grabbed with both hands grabbed the ladder and BAM BAM BAM
I got an elecric shock from hell knocked me on my a$$!
Everyone was like, what happened, I said I got shocked, the ladder is charged.
Of course my bud grabs it and nothing, had shoes on I guess he was grounded?
I have never had anything happen to me before, definitely wasn't static you will see from the pic
I checked the ladder a couple minutes later and nothing, tried a little later agin and a little tingling
I informed the Captain when we got in, but he didn't seem to believe me
I am going to forward him this pic of my feet, I guess the electric went straight from my hands through my feet on the floor. This is about an hour after we got in

Holy crap, they're all swollen up. Usually I have ankle bones
    Red lines?????

LESSON LEARNED, SHOES ON EVEN WHEN NOT FISHIN' !!!

    My rant
My bud payed a ton for this Charter, around 10 grand for the boat for the week. Not including calcuttas, etc.
They did go 1 for 1 on whitey on Tues, but that was it
I know the fishing was tough, but I have never seen such a lazy mate/part time Captain in my life!
This guy shows up late Friday
Puts the lines out and then goes in and lays down WTF
We did get that one knock down he jumps up checks it and goes back to sleep, WTF
After about an 1 1/2 of nothing, I ask if he wants us to check the baits
    No, they're fine!!
Half an hour later Captian yells down check the baits, 3 out of 5 blown out

After nothing all morning, at around 1 my bud asked the mate, change up the spread a little just to catch something.
We were running just 5 plain skirted hoo's
Asked him to throw in a spreader, bird, etc.
He said no these are fine
We'll, this is a large charter co. and I am sure they won't be getting his business anymore
I know he hated giving that guy a tip!
Personal problems, hungover, whatever you should always try to take care of your clients. I would not recomend them to anyone, lazy
Didn't even clean the boat off when we got in??????????????

    Sorry for the long post
    Dave

Deep, after fishing with with you in Chub I know what a good crew is supposed to be like. You guys did everything possible to put us on fish.
Switched everything, changed location, baits etc.
    I guess I got spoiled
I wish everyone ran their operation as well as you do!
    Class act!
    Thanks Captain

Funny thing, looking at the pics, I am guessing 48 Ocean Yacht?

I have had the "shock" problem on several of them over the years. The first was on the Sea Warrior which was a 1989 48 (happened to me the year it was new) Shammying the boat in the evening, the hard top legs lit me up. Over the years it has happened to a bunch of different boats. What I do not understand is that there is no rhyme nor reason to it, it will not happen consistently. I am guessing there is a ground problem with the electronics wiring run through hard top legs. I have not heard of the bridge ladder doing it, but the ladder is connected to the hard top legs via the aft rails.
