    Fresh fish in Jupiter, FL

Any of you folks able to point me in the right direction to buy some really fresh fish in the Jupiter area ? We've just arrived and I haven't a clue to get what I call REAL fish at reasonable prices. Most of the fish I have seen so far is burnt, old or just YUK ! Has to be an early morning fish-market somewhere, right ?

    Any help appreciated, thanks

A few miles to your south is Palm Beach Gardens. If you go down US1 to PGA boulevard you can turn west... You will cross a bridge. There is a marina on your right. Before the first light is a place called Carmines also on your right in a small but fancy plaza. This place has what you seek. They are very proud of it but they carry top shelf stuff.
A mile or so east of there past the mall is a center called Downtown at the Gardens... In there you can find a big natural food store called Whole Foods which specializes in all natural product. They too have top shelf fish and seafood at more reasonable prices...
Those would be your best bets... You could get lucky and catch your own but I don't know anybody here that can catch fish worth a shit...

I would highly recomend Carmines. They have a great restuarant as well.

AHHH ! That sounds like the gold to me ! Thanks.

I went by WholeFoods yesterday to get some stuff for the wife and looked at their fish. Very upmarket store, very clean and earth-friendly. Organic stuff everywhere, sustainable harvesting, recycled bags and smiling staff.

The fish was poor - reasonable quality but the selection was terrible. Farmed salmon from Norway (NORWAY ?????), farmed sea-bass from Greece (WTF ???), farmed tilapia, trout, char, a couple of old fillets of mahi-mahi (not sure it was local), some swordfish steaks which looked good, two loins of YF that weren't too hot but weren't too shabby, some old sole, Patagonian toothfish (always difficult to tell what that is as it's always white !), some yellowtail snapper whole (good), two grouper fillets and a yellow-eyed snapper or two. I ended up buying some halibut (good for the kids) which was fine, but I was really hoping for some Florida stuff. Plenty - no, LOTS - of shrimp from Thailand. None from the US. Guess I'll have to go and see what Pinders has to offer.

Someone needs to tell these people who think farmed fish is a sustainable resource how wrong they are. All the world needs is sensible fishery management - fish farms will kill the oceans in the long run, except for the tilapia farms of course - but you all know what they feed the tilapia on in foreign countries don't you ?

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Ok whats the secret... Whats with this influx of some of the worlds greats surrounding MY neighborhood?
It stated with Bart... Then a couple years later I see a moving van next door and its Danny Scotti from Gina Lisa. Heck, we even had Tred slide in for a drive by. Then all was stable in the hood. Next thing I know I see that white tuft of hair of Norm Issacs pacing up and down our docks. Now we got you....
Are you guys circling to get a look at my rigs? Or are you guys just tryin to get a better look at Mrs. Deep?
Seriously... Good to have you in town Roddy we share some common ground. It would be good to get together some time...

    TILE &/OR GOLDEN TILE (TILEFISH)

Hey Roddy, glad to here u landed safe & sound!
There used to be a restaurant in Ft. Pierce (north of you a piece) that served the absolute best fish sandwich I've ever had...it was tilefish and was to die for,..it was just a little east of the main drag (A1A ?? or U.S. 1...can't recall).
Lots of wood on the outside (big help that is huh).
But if you're ever out prospecting, u gotta try it.
Or better yet maybe (probably), get u some and google "parmadine" and try dat. pan fried, topped with crab meat and cheese topped again with sautaed (bad spelling there) almonds....wow.
Again, glad u made it mate!
u can get a better look @ deeps selections from that window we talked about on the north side of deepdom...

Allen - good to hear from you amigo ! Did you get that ride sorted out ? Do I get to send you a big box of goodies soon ? I'll keep an eye out for a pile of logs and see if there's a restaurant behind them....

Deep one - I just came to peek at Mrs Deep. Everyone told me to. Even Norm whan I saw him at the boat show. And especially Bart........ And when you take me fishing you can be SURE I will take photos of both your rigs and the plotter screen
