Fort Lauderdale area Sailfishing

Gonna be in Fort Lauderdale for 5 days startign on Wed this week. Does anybody have a up-to-date fishing report? Are there any Ocean City boats in the area that are fishing for sailfish right now? I'm willing to drive for a while to get to the fish.

Hey Al ,
Me and Noah are flying in to Ft Lauderdale on Wed to , we are heading to Grassy Key the next one down from Duck Key for 5 days . Noah just turned 21 on yesterday and Patty wanted me to go down with him to keep him safe Boy is she smart Fish Paul is driving up Rt 1 right now from a week in Marathon .Still has been cool on inside but he caught grouper deep dropping offshore . We are on Air Tran wed AM 5:45 .

We are flying down on Wed night and staying through Monday. Sharon and I are going with another couple so I'm not sure how much fishing I'm gonna get to do. I'll give you a call on Thursday and see what's up.

Guys, I have been fishing a lot of tournament in the South Florida Sailfish Series and have to say that Fort Lauderdale is dead in terms of sails. If you are targeting sailfish you should charter out of Miami, or head to Boca/PalmBeach. For whatever reason, Fort Lauderdale just doesn't hold the fish very well - to the point where all my friends who fish out of Port Everglades end up making the run south to Miami to fish.

BTW, Get Lit won the K Rock this past weekend and released 27 sails on saturday right out front of Miami beach...so the bite has been pretty good down here. Good Luck!

We fished friday and went 2 for 2 from Pacific to Ocean Reef and went 8 for 12 on saturday out front of Government Cut on the sea buoy. I will be out tomorrow and can give you a report on what this east wind has done to the bite.
