    Flying Gaff?

    What pound test mono do you guys use to keep the hook on the handle? I want to re rig mine casue i have no idea whats on it right now and don't want to end up with it being to much... thanks

    He's refering to the tie on... I use double 80 or tripple 50... I like a tight head to run right through the vitals. On little ones it usually wont even detach which gives you thye handle to controle them...

    I use 100 or 130. Which is probably the equivalent of what Deep is doing. Depending on what handle you have, it is a good idea to grease or vaseline the portion of the head that goes into the handle so that the 2 metals don't seize together and make it a fixed gaff.

    Like Deep, I do not want the head to come off prematurely. I also run a wrap of duct tape around the rope and handle. The mono usually breaks before the duct tape gives.
