For fluke- Go deep young man w/pics
Over the weekend I had 2 groups out on the Free Spirit to do some bottom fishing. Pete Pullen and his son, Rob came on board and off we went between wind and storms. We started by training on croakers and weakies inshore. The fish were more than cooperative and after a while we had enough of them and the boot camp for the anglers was done. We decided that ,now that they could tell the difference between being down on the bottom and not being there it was time to go hit some structure in 70-80 feet of water to see if the fluke were still there. They were. We ran off and slid our rigs up over the structure and down ythe other side and the fluke and sea bass decided that our baits looked good. Pete caught the biggest fluke of his life, and Rob figured out how to catch fish with 4 oz. in 80 feet of water as well. Notice the smile on Pete's face in this pic.
Altogether we kept 9 decent fish up to 23" and a load of croakers and weaks mixed. We also had a couple nice sea bass which Rob caught for his Mom. i judge the trip by the smiles on their faces and the tiredness of their wrists. This was a good one. Sunday Butch Welker and family including Pop, A.K.A. "The old Fart" came on board and we put the old rope a dope on the croakers and weaks inshore. The swell was too big to successfully fish the deep structure for fluke , but they had a great time as well. This darn weather has forced me to cancel and overnighter and a day trip to the deep but it looks like this Saturday will be OK so I will be overnight Saturday and Sunday. I still have 1 date open for offshore before I come down to Cape May for that Striper fishing that we all love. I also have some dates open out of CM so give a call if you are looking to charter a roomy comfortable boat with plenty of room for up to 6 folks.

Great Pic's.
It's a great feeling to see all those smiling faces. Most DOORMATT FLUKE will be around tsructure. Wether it's a tide rip, a bridge abutment, or under a doc, thts where to fish. Up in the oreast, yes, it's deep time. When your close as 3 feet from the wreck side , YOUR IN THERE STRIKE ZONE. Love to see those flatties layed out on the dock. Big baits , now , should equal big Flatties. I'm talking 6-8 inch fillet strips put on the hook.......SKIN SIDE UP.....SKIN SIDE UP. Did I say SKIN SIDE UP? Good, I'm sorry to preach SKIN SIDE UP!. Lots of missed HUGE fish if you do it the other way. WACKM N STACKM Joseph B...aka...Ancient Mariner
