    ????????????

It appears to me that not all flouro is created equal, just because it says flouro on it, doesn't mean "better" to me.

I personally would be more comfortable with a fresh piece of clear mono, than the hazy white flouro.
For starters what brand are you using??? There's a bit of a diffrence in each one if you look close enough but whether that makes a diffrence or not I don't know but that was the one thing that guys were questioning this winter during the BFT season since there were a few diffrent brands of Floro being sold around town, but clear floro does have a slight tint or haze to it..If your concerned with or don't have confindence in what your using don't use it and if your using it to troll or high speed verticle Jig I feel your wasting your $$$.. using floro anyway..

I do know that when I was working out in California on the Long Range boats line color was very important but we were live bait fishing so thats a whole diffrent ball game..

Im going to do a test this weekend, I cut up a bunch of 180# and 220# clear with the haze that I had laying around and going to see if it makes a diffrence while Grouper fishing..

I absolutely love the pink Yo-zuri floro. Ties well, strong, hard to see.

I'm not a fan of any of the clear floros for several reasons. One is that many of them don't tie well, alot of premature4 breakage, and it doesn't seem to last long after b eing exposed to the salt.

Been told that after the clear stuff has been sractched/knicked that is actualy shows worse than mono. I don't know if that is true or not. sounds like some good testing. I wonder if it has something to do with the way the lights reflects throu it after the coating is disturbed?

What did folks use before Fluoro???? Do fish have better eyes today than 20 years ago?
For jigging deep or bottom fishing here we only use mono...

    I agree.

For trolling in our NC waters, I'll take clear mono (I prefer Jinkai) over flouro all day long...........

Unless I'm mistaken, there are a few different "fluorocarbons" out there. Seaguar is solid extruded 100% Fluorocarbon while I believe some of the cheaper brands have a nylon (mono) core with a fluorocarbon shell

from what I've seen, the Seaguar appears to have a yelowish cast to it, while the others have a kind of matte white finish.

You pull all mono all the time??? Yes regular meatfish and billfish mono is fine. But when hit comes to GBFT its floro all the way. Merry Marlin are you using regular mono for bluefins too .

Thanks, that is some info I can wrap my head around. I knew there was something different. When I did the water test tonight on 4 brands that I had laying around (sufix, triplefish, yozuri pink & seaguar) the seaguar was by far the most translucent.

It won't make any difference because of the way their eyes are. Flouro is only a tuna thing (blood vessels in the eyes), at least I only bother with it for tuna.

Otherwise jinkai for jigging and momoi for trolling.
