The wife and I were in Islamorada last weekend with some friends. We did great on the trout and snapper in the backcountry. It was blowing 20-30 for the last week and there was no end in sight. We also did an offshore trip. The weather was up but it was slim pickings on the fish. No sails to speak of. We did hit the dolphin and blackfin. My wife even bested a 50+lb Cobia on a 20lb spinning rod. It was cruising the offshore weedline that we were trolling for dolphin. Big blow, but great fun. We fished on the FountainHead out of Bud 'n Mary's. Great time had by all.
Good luck!

Got Fish Too?

Sail bite is currently well between Sand Key and Eastern Dry Rocks off Key West. 1 charter boat went 7/8 on sails, plenty of large cobia and blackfin/bonita/kingfish/hammerhead sharks. Kite fishing is key, use small google eyes, big pilchards and threadfin.

Mary, Talbot, Reel Fishy,
Thanks for the replies. I am hoping the weather lays down for us. I am going to bring a little bit of everything in the way of gear so we can go in any direction. As ling as we get out & do a little catching I will be happy.
4 Days.
I should just leave now because I am not going to get much done in the next couple of days.
Thanks again.
Matt
Key Largo to Islamorada: Fishing's been good for flag tails yesterday on light lines. Good tarpon bite 100# and big bull sharks over 200# Offshore boats doing better for sails.

God I love Islamorada. Reminds me of my misspent (or was it well spent) youth.
