    Question Fishing Espanol ????

    It seems a fair amount of SFC members fish in Spanish speaking countries, and from what I've seen the language programs available don't really cover the fisherman's needs.
    I realize it's important, to be able to ask for ask for a glass of wine or wheres the bathroom. I thought it would be cool if we had a thread where our Spanish speaking members could help educate us in the proper terms used for fishing.

    Cerveza= beer
    Gancho= Hook, gaff ???
    Pesca = fish
    Pescador= fisherman
    Pescadon= fishing ??
    Outrigger =???
    Line = ??
    Leader= ???
    Fishing rod=??

    Leader is appropiate for all languages. Most all spanish speaking operations have adopted that. As well as outrigger.

    Pescando - is fishing. I am trying to spell phonetically

    Pes - is a live fish
    Pescado - is a dead fish
    carnada - bait
    calamari - duh!
    pulpo - Octopus
    Pargo - snapper
    alambre - wire
    right and left rigger is pretty much international as well.
    recoje - pronounced - reh-co-heh - reel
    liberado - released
    matamos - we killed
    mata -to kill
    aguja azul - BLue Marlin
    Aguja blanca - white marlin
    pez vela - most just say vela - sailfish
    pes espada - swordfish
    cuanto muy caro
    reboto' - Zing pow
