Went to Beaufort, NC, to fish for the GIANTS with Capt. Mike on the HC Canyon for the week. Had a couple days of blow and was left at the dock with only two days of fruitless success. During the down time the one and only Marty, AKA THE BOX, signed on for some bluefin action. Friday showed good weather so we set out to catch em up. Despite not having a bite for the day was made up by having THE BOX on board. Between getting a planer rod education and inside tips with Marty's personal flair made up for it, JUST A GOOD DUDE.
Saturday, which was my last day to fish was filled with high hopes. As I was watching my watch on the final countdown before my flight out, the two planer rods go off. The port side rod broke off as we went to set in for the fight so the job came down to the Starboard side. The fight was on as we conducted the battle with the Giant of the deep. Must complement the Box for running the pit in first class shape and Capt. Mike and his first mate Tara on running the screws back down on the fish, Great job. The fish was boated and we headed to the house, GOOD FEELING but the clock was ticking for my flight out. As we came to port we dropped Tara off to get the truck and we offloaded the fish and I packed my bags to leave. The last job was stripping my bibs and boots while racing to the truck in hot chase to the airport. To make a long story short, I could have used some clean up. It was a good a thing that my flight had an empty seat next to me as I smelled like the Tuna of the sea with sushi under my finger nails. All good stuff and a fantastic trip. There is a lot I missed but this is the short version.
