Fishing from "back then" to NOW

Hey all, I'm not sure what forum this question will be appropriate in. So admins please feel free to move it... Thanks

This question guys out for all the old timer Mates and Capts that were around doing say the 80's or so. Do you see a difference in the way you have to fish for fish from back then to today? Like I hear alot of Capt's and mates saying that so much has changed from back then to today on what you have to do the catch fish...

I hear alot of mates saying there is so much tackle out their now adays just to make money and you dont really need it to catch fish. (Which I can see. People make anything just to make a buck) Say when trolling, and you drag teasers behind a boat. Ive heard so many "older" fisherman say that you dont need a teaser behind the boat to attract fish. Then I heard alot of newer fishermen that say you cant catch a fish without it.

So just examples like that. I mean, you cant walk into a bass pro today without seeing a million different types of fishing lures, a million different types of fishing lines or colors, or different rigs and such.

What are your options on this guys. Both younger and well experienced fishermen can answer. I'm curious on what yall think. Sorry if its a confusing question. Its late and im tired, let me know if you need me to reword it

    Thanks alll

Calabash..........You been listenin to Danny Juel to much.

Yes..... Basspro is full of stuff, and I have learned the hard way that the big stores are fishing too, and those shiny things are there to catch fisherman more so than fish.

I have thousands of dollars worth of lures and tackle and what I have learned is that I seem to fish with the same two or three lures day in and day out. Wish I had figured that out twenty years ago.

Now with that said, do I think teasers raise fish ....YES! Do I think it matters when a hungry fish is in the spread, probably not. But I dont thinkmits goin to hurt you either. I dont care what youre pullin, if a hungry fired up whatever is in the spread, IMO it doesnt matter what youre pullin, its gonna eat it.

First, you gotta put the boat on top of the fish.
