Smile Fishin Fool - Extreme Deep Fun

    Boat: Fishin Fool
    31' Contender FA

    Crew:
    Lucian (Me) - Fishin Fool
    Chris Martin
    Mike - Fish Dad
    Naved

Well after rounding up another crew, after 2 cancelled the day before the trip, we headed East to do a little Search & Destroy. The goal was to find places to catch Golden Tiles and Grouper.

The seas were nicer than I expected which made for a great ride out. We stopped at our 1st destination, looked around, dropped and didn't find what we were looking for. A little farther out and we found some Black Bellied Rosefish and hoped there might be some Goldens around. We caugh quite a few rosies before we bagged our 1st Golden.

A little while later we were hooking up and managed 3 more Golden Tiles up to 36 lbs., before deciding to move on. This Fishery needs to be PROTECTED.

We started looking for the groupers found none, but managed a nice limit of 4 Wreckfish.

We also caught some Sea Bass, a Blueline Tile, Red Hake, Bluefish, Sharks and a strange looking Toothy Little Creature from the Extreme Deep.

The water was clear, we saw weedlines and had Triggerfish below the boat. I also saw a Tripple Tail under some weeds, he must have been LOST.

There were Pilot Whales and Tuna Birds working an area, I imagine it may have had some Bluefin Tunas in the mix.

Another Great Day with another Great Crew!!!

Fellas, you are always welcome aboard my boat!

    Final Talley:
4 - Golden Tiles up to 36 lbs.
    4 - Wreckfish
    Assorted - Sea Bass
    1- Blueline Tile
    Assorted - Black Bellied Rosefish
    1 - Red Hake
1 - Strange Toothy Creature from the DEEP
    Lots of Blue Fish
    Assorted Sharks

What a fantastic catch Lucian and team! Please give us some more particulars, if you can, like surface temp, depth and baits used. Current not a problem in your area?
I continue to be very impressed in seeing the Fishin Fool go after very specific fishing targets and hitting them every time! It's one thing to become proficient in one technique and species and yet another to continuously challenge yourself in new pursuits.
    Nicely done!

Thanks... I am trying to Challenge Myself to new horizons. I have a check list of species to get on my boat before I leave this earth and I just checked Golden Tiles off.. What's Next... Multiple Grouper Species, Swordfish, Barrelfish and a few others. I really put a dent in my list in the last 2 years and am anxious to get back out and check a few more off. I also want to get me a Virginia Tarpon, hopefully someone will take me out for one, my boat is a little too big for skinny water.

Particulars... Water Temp was 54-56, we fished depths from 350' - 1000'.. Baits varied, from Squid, large strips of Bluefish, Blue Crabs, etc. Chris and I used 5/0 & 6/0 Circle hooks exclusively and lost nothing. We did have quite a few BIG FISH break our light 80-100 lb leaders though.

It was pretty neat to see the Triggers under the boat in 1000' of water, one was pretty large for a triggerfish in the open.

Fantastic fishing Lucian. I am really glad to see the Goldens get checked off your list. One of these days I want to take a ride out to the deep on the Fishin Fool! Thanks for sharing the wonderful report and pics.

Lucian, that was an awesome trip. Let's do it again soon, your boat, my boat, don't matter. You can come with me and let's knock off that sword off your list this year.

You are more than welcome to make a run to the deep with me when the weather is great and seas are calm. I am anxiously waiting for the palagics to show up for a little screaming drags. But in the meantime I plan on finding me some grouper and possibly a daytime sword.

Just pm me your name and phone number and I'll add you to my list.
