This tournament now has a captain's meeting and awards dinner location!!! And unfortunately it is not on the Manasquan River. All the events will take place at "Shark River Yacht Club" Which has a beautiful Banquet Hall, plenty of parking and incredible easy access from all directions!!!!!! I was approached by the owner Seth last night.. met him today.....and he is very much on the same page as myself on this whole thing. He literally said to me "Sal you have a great idea here... and you have from me what ever you need to make this tourney a huge success this year and for many years to come!!!!" We have decided together that this tournament is designed for the little guy, we welcome all fishermen big and small and all in between. . But this tourney is mainly designed for the guy who can't afford to do tournaments like the Mid Atlantic Tuna Open and or 500, and the White Marlin Open in Ocean City and so on and so on. The Calcutta's allow entries for the High Rollers if they so choose!! And the tournament format allows for some pretty high pay days in the years to come as the tournament grows. We have also decided today that there will be multiple weigh stations!! In Manasquan it will be Fishermens Supply in Point Pleasant. In Shark River it will be the Belmar Municipal Fuel Dock. I am working on a weigh station in the Raritan area so we can attract some New York Fishermen, as well as the northern Jersey guys. And I am debating Barnegat Inlet at the moment, but will definitely consider it if the demand is there. So there will be at least three ports and possibly four, so that in the first year we hope to have a great tourney turn out!!! The dates are still either August 25Th thru the 28th or Sept 1st thru fourth. But that will be decided in the next few days!! Hope this change is for the good of all that want to participate!!
So keep on the look out for all details in your local tackle shops of this great tournament to come!!!
Also we are planning some great entertainment as well as fine food for this New Great Tournament!!!!!!!!

SAL G AND THE REST OF THE HOOLIGAN CLAN!!!
Hey I know a few little guys who would love to fish this kind of tournament out of Squan. Not that we are lazy but man it is a real fire drill to to run down south. I look forward to the tourny and am very excited to fish it. Will call right away.
First of all thx to Seth who has provided us with an unbelivable setting for our " FIRST ANNUAL SHARK RIVER YACHT CLUB TUNA OPEN"....We are three days into this and it is coming together perfectly.....We have a lot of sponsor inquires already and an unbelievable amount of interest from potential entrants!!! A day ago myself and Seth said we hope we could get 40 to 50 entries....but based on the last 24 hours alone I would not be surprised if we inch towards 80 to 100 entries. I have been in contact with the IGFA and they have been incredibly helpful, in just a short period of time. They are a great tournament resource. Guys this tourney has all the signs of a great one.. and I will be very glad to answer questions by phone and can be reached anytime at 800.821.FISH So us help keep this thread towards the top with questions and suggestions, as this alone is a great tool to grow this tourney to incredible heights!! And thx to JOHN EPPENMIER and all that are involved in maintaining SPORTFISHERMEN .COM..... for such a great fishing forum!!! Again remember we will have three to four weigh station ports!!!!
