Just me and Bob on this trip, started out not being able to BUY a Bluefish on the "bait grounds".....thankfully we had a few frozen Blues (plus some Mackerel anyway) from a Bass trip a week ago, plus Capt. Bill Brown threw us a couple more frozen blues he had, as he managed enough fresh ones....Thanks Again Bill!
Started out trolling for Tuna in the Mudhole amongst the thousand boats chunkin' LOL. Picked up a 30" Bluefin (released thanks to the new 47" Reg.), and a Falsie. Retained the falsie for blood and bait Lots of dolphins halfway between Block and Point Jude, and lots more in the Mudhole. Then we went and set up for shark. NO drift, it was simply ridiculous. You can see from the pics, it was glass. We moved south, then east, then north, then south, then around in a circle etc etc After a long 5 hours of watching a ton of bait around us, and several unidentified fins, we spotted a shark fin way out in our slick (if you could call it a slick at this point LOL). 10 minutes later our 50' rod screams off and we Tagged & Released a 7' Blue. Packed it up. Great weather on the water, shitty fishing. Good to have the boat back in action ![]() |

Great pics as usual Eric. Were any of the chunking fleet catching at Mudhole? Yeah that new limit does make you give a second thought making a trip and burning the fuel. A 47" tuna a very nice fish though. I would bet there are few mixed in there if you can get your bait down deeper than the footballs.

Thanks guys, it WAS an "OK" day LOL.....no day on the water is terrible.....
But we were expecting a 5 to 10 kt Southerly breeze, which would have served us nicely Oh well, the Ketel One & Gatorade was tasty while back home washing the boat BTW, I actually was starting to think that I may actually get skunked for the FIRST TIME while sharkin' LOL but I was able to uphold my record once more ![]() |
