Wow, this is like asking my wife about her favorite shoes

Winter does seem to bring out some really good threads and this one has named some really good reels. I'll go with...

Old- My first spinner (mitchell) that i caught that 4.5lb. largemouth after 2 years of trying (age 11), a reel that endured pleanty of abuse and this completed the dream.

New- Ah hell, the next one i buy this winter that is.... until it lets me down

I haven't been fishing long enough to really come up with a favorite so for right now I'll go with whatever one has the fish on the other end!!

For big tackle, I love my Tiagra 50W LRS. Mine has seen LOTS of abuse. I fish it all the time on 34 pounds strike, catching large sharks or highspeed trolling with 22-24 pounds on strike. Never has had a glitch. It just works great. Probably 8 years old at this point, and never had more than a good rinse down.

For smaller reels.... I love my 3600 abu for flounder and trout, but it doesnt hold up at all. I have gone through 3 at this point. Its my fault. Its not a saltwater reel, but its the perfect size to cast all day for inshore critters. Wish abu would make some bearings that cast forever like they do the first 2 trips when new, and drags that didnt skip like a little school girl in love.

For me my Penn 70VS is just the pefect size reel for my fishing needs. Holds a ton of line without having to use the expensive briad, and is balenced nice for use in a harness. Capt. Eric

Zebco 33. Hands down. Once you've seen the drag slipping out inconsistently with a carp on one end and a three year old on the other you'll know why.

My second choice is a hand line wound up on an old milk jug, half gallon works best.
