Far Out Shootout Roll Call - Ocean Isle Beach, NC

Alright fellas,

Who is fishing the meatfish tournament in Ocean Isle this weekend and next week? The weather is looking like it might lay down enough for a day or two of fishing this weekend and hopefully next week will be nice. The new format of the tournament is 8 days, Sat - Sat, with each boat being able to fish two days of the 8. You can weigh one fish of each species each day (tuna, dolphin, wahoo) and your biggest of each will count towards your two day aggregate. I think this year they are awarding points for all billfish releases as well.

I am fishing on Schneider Stone, 28' Parker. I know there has to be more people around here fishing this tournament, let's see who you are!

Sorry purplegold- I'm going to win it this year but I'll definately leave 2nd place open for ya I'll pm you with my phone # and will be happy to tell you any info I find out on where the fish are.
I'll be out there on my boat with a couple of guys on the site: reel-emotion and topheavy.

What won it last year? I seem to recall it was somewhere around 70-80 points or something. All I remember is the winning team's wahoo was 12lbs or something ridiculous like that.

Just saw on their site that last years winner had a total of 96 pounds and their wahoo was 28 pounds. I don't know where I was remembering those other numbers from, maybe the leaders of the day I fished???

I predict the winner this year will be well over 100.

I thought the Schneider Stone was a Wellcraft (32 or 35) that was wrapped. Did you get a new boat? Just curious. I fished beside the mentioned boat several times during the FLW mackerel tournaments as well as during bluefin season.

I wish I could claim this boat as my own but it's my buddies . Schneider Stone was a wrapped Wellcraft but it had an unfortunate accident. I don't know the details but somehow or another filled itself with water and sank at the dock. (I've since heard that this isn't the onlyl Wellcraft that's done this) . I think the whole starboard side, including motor, went under. Anyway, Tom had it pumped out, got her floating, and sold it. He got the Parker this winter and bluefin fished it and we've been fishing her every chance we've gotten this spring.

We were thinking of floating to the captain's meeting tonight but we are a little worried there might not be room at the docks for us.

Hate to hear that. Best of luck with the new ride though! I'm sure I saw you last night but just didn't know who you were....I was the guy carrying around all the Tiagra's and putting topshots on them inside the Fishing Center. If you'd like, I'll keep you informed through PM's of what I hear/know throughout the week. I'll be fishing several days and have lots of very reliable sources for info. outside of areas that I'll be fishing.
