personally i feel this practice makes it a rich mans sport once again. maybe i shouldnt use the the term rich, but it places an unfair advantage for those of us who cannot afford to have a "spotter." we all pay the same tournament entry fees and with the added cost of fuel, transient slips, etc., it could put you behind in the thousands. so why cant it be a tournament, testing the ability of the capt and the crew. i recall a tournament where a good number of boats were fishing outside the 3 mile line for stripers. they werent caught, but a good percentage of those that fished outside of it...cashed. is that fair? pre-fishing...sure we all do it...but each day is different and we all know the fish move depending on tides, wind, the prevalence of bait. sometimes pre-fishing doesnt generally help one win a tournament.
