F.stop mako

6/21/04

fished the 19 fathom. 67.5 degree h2o. 4 makos caught from 75 lbs. to 160 lbs....killed and kept the 160lbs. pictured. also caught 2 brown sharks 100lbs to 130 lbs. wind n n/e dirft south w. winds shifting to s s/e dirft north west.

fished with my father and i.....great post father day!

when i target makos i fish my line in this order far line 100 to 150 yards. out bait down about 15 - 25 ft. float above 2 way 7 ft (whole mack)...second line 75 yards back lines down 20 ft.(whole blue fish if it's a small blue or whole mack, skirt and ratteler).....3rd line down about 20- 15 ft. 15 yards back (fish whole mack or small blue fish...or if i have a live bait use this line to put out a live bait. 4th line fish close in off the transom 15 ft down blue fish fliet or mack. fliet on a skirt. i use bunker chum. i drift and i'm always working a line set ing one out and reeling it back to spark interst with the shark.

to boat the fish 2 people in this order: back down on the drag, 1. leader the fish, 2. shoot the fish over the head bet. the eyes(i use a 12 gauge shell in a bang stick), 1. gaff fish in the gills., 2. tail rope the fish tie off at cleat.and gaff the fish at tail put him in the boat tie him off head to the barn.

hope this info. helps.
