Several boats are pitch baiting with most pulling 2 bridge teasers, 2 short rigger teasers and a lure on one long rigger (with hook) and a bait on the other long rigger or 2 lures in the long riggers..Most fish come to the teasers first and anglers pitching from the cockpit as the fish is teased to the boat.
Some boats were doing very good pulling 4 lures(with hooks), 2 short riggers, 2 long riggers and also 2 bridge teasers with pitch bait rods ready for bridge teaser fish.
Revenge (pitch baiting) was top boat for the Sept. moon releasing 54 blue marlin in 12 1/2 days.
How much longer does this hot bite last? I am starting to plan for my honeymoon in 2010 which will be in late Sept or early Oct. How much (est) does a full day charter run on one of these boat know to consistantly catch fish. Thanks in advance.
The bite starts in August and runs into October. The boat I tried to charter this year, but couldn't connect on the dates is charging $1950/day. It's a battlewagon 60' Bert.
Best time is June - Oct. and some may not agree but Sept.-Oct. is almost always great fishing. $1800/day will get a damn good boat but some charge more.Non stop flights from Charlotte, Atlanta, Phil., N.Y., Miami, and Ft. Lauderdale. Very good hotels. Now you can get a room at Wyndham Sugar Bay for $99.Also a Ritz or afforable private 2-3 bedroom condos. Sept. - Oct. is off season for the main body of tourists.
They are still biting now...off the moon. Yesterday J.A.C.S. 3/4 and Thearpy had 6 bites.
No sure thing in marlin fishing but the next moon should be wonderful given the recent bite. Good luck.
