I can get you in contact with my buddy in Canaveiras (sp) This place is strictly a fishing destination. You would stay in a nice comfortable house with all your needs taken care of, breakfast, laundry, maid service etc. It is walking distance to the boat. There are a couple of decent restuarants and the people are very nice. Some dude name frank (german) owns a good resturant right on the row of shops by the boat.

These are not state of the art boats. Brazilian made riostars. The AC is probably broken, and the props are probably bent because they hit the bar on the way out almost every other trip.

That being said we have caught a blue marlin over 500 my both of my trips to Brazil. First one was in early Jan. and my buddy Corey and I saw 9. hooked 4 and caught 1 and a sail along with some big dolphin and a few tunas. One fish we saw was classified as over 800. The next time we went was much slower. But we did catch one big blue and a small blue. The other boat missed a big blue and caught some yf one was over 120lbs. This is all lure fishing at rediculous speeds. I will call you to discuss a few other particulars that need to be straightened out before you book.

This is long flight but TAP use to have a direct flight from Miami to Salvadore which was great. Otherwise you would have to fly overnight to Sao Paulo and then possible transfer airports (sucked). From salvadore you would fly to ilheus and then would be driven to Canaveiras. its about 2 hrs drive.

The mates don't speak english but are extemely nice and also rather talanted. If you book take an extra pair of costas. And some hats and t-shirts. They really love that kind of stuff.

Panama - I will call you about panama. I have a buddy who loves going down there and stays with a real low key operation that fishes the bank. I really need to get back down there.

Guatemala - is great but you are correct in that it is sailfish sailfish sailfish.

Not sure about PV since I have not been there in dec but I am sure Josh can chime in and help out. He is a pleasure to fish with. and don't believe all his crazy wild stories that he throws on the internet. When he is on the bridge or in the tower he is 100% dedicated to catching the biggest fish out there.

If a giant blue marlin is your goal I would go to Brazil.

I got some more to add but I am being beckoned by the wife

Brazil sounds like the ticket..boats not a problem...and you should know - you dont need AC when your fishin...im not a primadonna by any means. However with all the travel, and lay over.....it would basically take two days travel each way...5 days just doesnt seem like enough.....that would leave only one day to fish......we shall talk more about this....

i knew you would have all the answers.......ill give you a ring later on today...to discuss further..your the best!!!

Here are a couple videos. The first is our last trip. We were on the small boat. I think they only have the bigger boat now.

This one is really cool. It is of a whale shark Shaun encountered while marlin fishing on the bank.

You should check out the panama big game club. You can fly into Panama City stay a nite at the Viento then catch the flight to David. They will pick you up and carry you to the island. Accomodations are nice and food is great. It is strictly fishing though. I checked on the Brazil thing a couple of years ago thru Artmarine out of Miami. Seas that time are in the 4 ft range. You fly into either San Paulo or Rio and it is a couple hour small plane flight to Canerveris. Panama big game club is on this site just email Capt Lee

another option is to get Howard's ass down to golfito. I think it is about 100 miles from golfito to the hannibal bank, less to some of the other hot spot islands off of panama (isla Jicaron, Montousa, Frails north and south). You can arrange fuel from the barge that is out there fueling the mothership operation (so I've been told).

I know we have been trying to coordinate this with howard for a couple years now. But the timing never seems right.

Check out this place. It is fishing in the same area that Pino was just referring to. A friend of mine caught a 750 Lb marlin IN January. The smallest marlin they caught was 250 They caught 7 0r 8 on that trip plus some good size yellowfins. Oh I think you can buy the operation. I heard they would sell it.

Check-out a friend's lodge in Panama at www.paradisefishing.net. Chad, owner, runs a top notch operation and his captains have been cherry picked from the best of the best in northern panama (most with over 20 yrs experience).......they fish big blacks that time of year at Coiba, Montuosa, Cebaco.......and all the other reefs where the Blacks hang. To boot, the lodge is beautiful and away from everything that is "american".

I spend tons of time in PV........end of December is not the best time for Blacks.......the Black fishery is July - Oct for prime time. There are granders there though.....two weeks ago we released a 700+ black and brother JT got an identical Black the next day. Danny Gomez on his panga two or three years ago weighed a Black slightly over 1000lbs and I have seen a couple of pictures of other fish that would have been very close (most mexican captains do not weigh their fish because lack of equipment to hoist the fish up or lack of a scale).

    Matt

PM or post some particulars about Chad's operation. My buddy went last year and absolutely loved it. He sent Chad an email about possibly going down in late dec early jan. I also heard Curtis is getting his stuff up and running as well. Have you heard anything?
