First off, started off the day good, cuz we had early release from school.
My bud picked me up from school at 11:05, and we went to the point.
For those of you local to Emerald isle,NC. Its right off of coast guard road, near the old Bogue Inlet.
Anyways! Me and my bud got there around 11:30, and it was fairly rough, and raining. But i really wanted to fish, so we fished.
We put out some drum rigs, and i got busted off.
I dont like being busted off. So i went back to the truck , got my tiagra out of the back, and went back to the sand for some revenge.
Well, theres no casting a big real like that obviously, so i have been working on a balloon/release rig.
Basicaly consists of two ballons, attached to a Very Light Rubberband, and i connect all that to my main line, which consists of basically, 2 ft of 108lb single strand wire, a 6/0 owner, and a 8oz bank sinker on a sinker slide
i put a NICE 9 inch bluefish(live) on that bad boy, and let the outgoing tide take her out a hundred or so yards. then i YANK just hard enuf to pop the rubberband, thus releasing my bait to the bottom of the inlet.
anyways, i set it on my buggy, and in about ten minutes, the oh so familiar sound of a tiagra RIPPIN' line on that awesome clicker was going out.
I grab hold, and let it run a little, and give em hell. I feel some head shakes, and i know whats about to happen. A 7ft spinner jumped up, and spun around and around, and it was on.
Long story short, i get a few sharks in from the beach, and buddy got a nice drum.
We left around 4:30, both a little wet/cold/hungry.
