we caught the texas state record off a party boat I worked on in 97'. Over 200lbs of pissed off eel is nothing to take lightly. This is an accurate desription of boating one of those nasty things. You catch them grouper fishing around deep rigs and they will wrap around the rig leg and sometime you reel up half of one after thinking your hung and trying to break it off. Big nasties with canines and ulcers in their mouths

Close to 100lbs ? Never in a million years. 40lbs tops, but maybe more likely 30 - 35lbs.

Thats a great story. It reminds me of a pissed of mako that my son caught and wanted to bring in the boat in the middle of the night. Taught me a lesson , make sure you got a bang stick before you bring a pissed of mako in the boat.

and you see a mothful of 2 inch fangs and where there is a tooth missing there is a big ulcer you will understand why I have no idea. Give me a 800 mako any day over a 200lb shimp eelThat thing was MEAN AND NASTY. I aint kiddin'! That thing is the scariest thing I ever put on a boat. He was not kidding when he said it came out of boxes and attacked youI have seen it first hand. They really do swim all over like monster snakes. Nasty things

The sight of that thing and knowing that it will attack you once in a boat just scares the crap out of me. 2 inch fangs and he knows what to do with them. No thanks.
