After seeing that film of it tonight i was shocked. I mean come on we all fish tournaments and we all have to man up and do whats fair. To lie your way over to the west coast just isn't right. I really don't care who you are or how much money you have.

I hope you guys get what you deserve and like everyone said karma is a bitch. LIVE WITH IT

"OLIVIA GRACE" OLN SHARK EVENT

The most blatant and disgraceful display of sportsmanship, morals and illegal tournament fishing on display for the world to see.

I and many have sat back and watched the thread on this issus for weeks withholding judgement until we saw it with our own eyes and it is even more dispicabale than told to us. I am an East coast fisherman who has relocated out west, I have had contact with most of the west coast guys involved in this event ( not sure how u call it a tournament, I will get to that in a minute) and have been told about this and really did not believe it thinking their is always two sides to every story. Wow, was I wrong, instead of being close to as bad as I was told it is ten times worse, the toal lack of respect and out right lies perpetuated by this clown George Barnard and his co-conspirators is outrageous.
Not only did they outright lie and commit pre-meditated fraud he goes on to lie after the fact in sit down staged interviews with the events producers. Did this guy understand that this would all be on disply for all to see and he still sits there and lies right to their face about every facet of what he did wrong? Wow, a combination of arrogance and lack of character.
And too carry on in the on-going thread lying all-along still knowing everyone was going to see the truth, truly unbelievable.

Here is my list of rule and IGFA regualtions broken and lies:

1. On hook up when they had 6 rods tangled at once (the only funny part of all the moronic things they where doing out there) they immediatly disqualified themselves when someone grabbed the rod briefly after hook-up.
2. After fighting the fish for a short time they blatantly and in cohoots passed the rod to a new angler to finish fighting the fish, this is a direct disqaulification via IGFA rules, not even a question.
3.They gaffed their little mako without even trying to get a boatside measurement first and then measured outside the boat. 62" called out for all to hear. They then decided to bring fish on board to get better measurement.
On deck they measured CORRECTLY, nose to fork numerous times and again 62" you could hear them bemoaning and even saying "you got to be kidding me" knowing full well that the fish did not meet minimum length.
They decide to keep fish anyways saying he will die anyways, maybe, maybe not.
THEY CALL TOURNAMENT CONTROL AND ANNOUNCE THEY RELEASED THEIR FISH. OUTRIGHT LIE AND CAUSE FOR IMMEDIATE DQ.
NOTE: continueing to fish with a shark on board is not against the law in NE, catching and killing another shark in the same day would have been.
4. Close to lines out knowing they had no chance to catch a legal fish they call in a hook-up. THEY PROCEED TO SCALES WITH SHORT FISH AND LIED ABOUT SECOND FISH.
5. At scales they quickly throw shark up on bulkhead and tape the fish improperly from nose to end of tail, knowing full well that they are taking an illegal measurement. they hoot and yell out 70" 70" for observeers to hear; Bullshit and they know it.
6. They begrudgingly hang fish on scales to get a weight upon calls from observers to do so. Everoyne wants to know how much their fish weighs, they did not, but where forced to by peer pressure.
7. Once back on board you can hear crew members telling each other "we need to fillet this fish fast" yes, let's go cut the head off, 70" Chuckle, Chuckle he grew quick! Low Lifes!
They cut head off and proceed to cut her up fast. HIDE THE EVIDENCE!
NOTE: The fish from the tournament was supposed to go to the local needy as splashed on the screen during the show. Why didn't they leave the fish on the dock for tournament commitee to donate?

To do what they did in the heat of the moment is bad enough to go into the interview after the fact and dispute what we all just saw and to carry on the past few weeks on this site is pathetic and sad.

And for Bernard to talk about his Charter business and say I would never do anything to jeapordize my business??
If the NMFS/Feds and states are watching this they should pull your captains license for DUI and total negligence on board your vessel. You are menace and accident waiting to happen to boaters/fishermen whenever you leave the dock from this display

ALSO:
After knowing this boat lied outright and caught their fish illegally why did Scott Gurney and the event committe not immediatly disqaulify the fish and the team? Why did they allow them to continue thus knocking out the next team in line who would have deserved it?
The camera guy and his footage is all they needed to do this but they allowed this fraud to go on to the end? And now go out of their way to show the lies and cheating on the show? Explain this to me? Just too cover their butts now that the world can see what happened?
That is why I personally can't call this a tournament when the tournament director knows of a blatant violation (numerous actually) and does nothing about it?
Someone needs to explain this to me, maybe I am missing something?

It's a shame too because every other team I watched from the east coast where great in regards to sportsmanship, attitude and displayed good character, always one to ruin the good work of others, sorry guys, you guys don't deserve all the negative publicity that will definetly be coming down the pike from this.

I will be attending a local So Cal shark seminar this week that all/most of the west coast guys will be at and all I will be able to say is sorry that was a disgrace. They where right you guys are outright cheats!

I will say this the whole thing made me sick, and im still going over the tape. Something that is trippin me up pretty bad is this. What is up with this cut in the pic below.

If that cut is deep enough and cut the spine the fish would stretch on the hook.

Sorta wierd to see that cut there on a mako. Maybe im wrong who knows.

Like I said before, Team Phoebe-lynn fished hard and played by the rules. We earned our spot just as all the other boats who qualified, and even those who were not as fortunate, fished hard and took it to the limit. I had a great time and made some good friends along the way. Tonights show was "in my opinion" awesome for my team and all other teams "Funds, Undesputed, Tango, Hoffmans, Counter Propossal, Mullanys, etc. Not so good for Team Jersey Cape. As far as why Scott gurney did what he did. He had hundreds of hours of tape to go thru on short notice. He did the right thing by inviting the 6th team out to the west. Nobody involved in the tourny really had a clue as to what was going on. Until we got to the west coast and even then we were not informed on the severity of the cheating that went down. There are alot of times when your fish is close and you have to take a shot, it just happens. Especially when it means going to the West Coast. But the decisions and actions that were made by Jersey Cape were not very wise.
Win some. Lose alot. thats life. Deal with it.
I am very proud of my team. Good Job Boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK,I have kept my opinions to my self on this subject, but I no longer can.I have had several rum drinks tonight. All I can say, is that there are a lot of small people participating in this event. If any of this type of stuff ever came to past on my boat, I would hand my keys to another captain and wax boats for the rest of my natural life.
