Dyeing Your Baits

How many of you have used (or are considering using) a bait dye to make your baits stand out in lieu of using a lure with the new circle hook regulations?

Didn't know if this is of any interest to any hardcore billfishers or not but here is a picture of some ballyhoo that I colored up the other weekend. The blue one is a little weak because I didn't give it enough dwell time. I didn't have any of our red dye with me at the time of this photo because a customer got it first. We also have a flourescent orange available.

Tried it years ago with little success. When they see what they like they eat.
I skirt hoo, and if nothing happens I will ditch the skirt and run them nude and will somtimes hit them.

we may start saleing a dye also here pretty soon. ive never tried it but i will give it a shot. dont know what kind you used there on the ballyhoos and i cant remember the name of what we got, but i think it might work on live bait better and its not supose to kill the bait, so we will just have to wait and see. it may be the ticket for kings

Tater-

We actually produce the live bait version of the dye. The dye used here is a slightly different version of dye for brined baits.

Is the brand of dye that you have called "Instant Bait Dye" by Cape Lookout Lures?

Those give me an idea...this Easter, instead of eggs, we can hide dyed ballyhoo all over the marina for the kids to hunt.

Fish4bills-

You know that could be a great way to raffle off a fishing trip this Easter. The kid with the most colored hoos wins a free offshore fishing trip for his or her dad!
