    double snelled hooks

    i have been trying to work on snelling to hooks to make a double hook for lures for marlin or any other pelagic fish. is there any sugesstions any one can help me with. i feel like this is an important skill to have.

    Just snell the bottom one 1st. But I think most here would agree that single hook rigs work just as well if not better.

    I wouldn't bother with a snelled rig. Use a piece of heavy cable between your two hooks and you'll have a better chance of nabbing that wahoo when (not if) he bites.

    Plus the stiff rigs give you a better hook up ratio if a marlin does hit. Note I said better...after pulling plugs for three days in the Hatteras tournament last week and seeing the dismal hook up to catch ratios I'm definitely ready to gag something with a ballyhoo.

    Mate, what hook rigs/sizes/outrigger releases/strike drags etc were you fishing? How many bites and what happened during the fight? Estimated fish sizes? I fish predominantly with artificial so am interested in collating statistics for as many places and crews as possible. Shoot me a PM if you'd prefer to keep radio silence.
