Made the drive back to Palm Beach early and about had a shit when I saw my engine room wide open and tools all over the place. I hadn't expected to see that as I had not heard from my mechanic since last week. My heart was pounding expecting to see him crushed by a motor or see him stuck in the hole... Nobody there??? Then he pullled up in his truck. This guy was concientious enough to notice a leaking raw water line on my other engine when he test ran her last week and took it upon himself to replace it.
It took a few minutes to swap out and we dropped her back in the water. I hit the keys and the new motor lit in a blink! The other came to life just about as quick. As I let them warm up a buddy flying a flag came in. He offered up 8 live gogs that he wasn't going to use and I gladly accepted. I had planned to troll but livies was definately a way cool option to go with. The mechanic got and invite and agreed. My bung puckered as I reached the end of the no wake zone... How would she be? I was delighted as she ran right up where she needed to go with plenty left over. I ran about 20 knots so not to push it and slid out the inlet. Those who have fished with me here get a kick that we start sailfishing about a mile outside and that was the game plan. To my north I could see two boats backing down and about doink each other. There was a lot of exchange over the radio as they tried to sort out the best way to get around each other. I pinned the first gog and flipped it over the side. There must have been that sail sitting right there because the leader wasn't even clear of the tip when the fish ate! I bowed that one up and we went to work. My mechanic made short work of the frisky spindle beak. I popped out another three and as I was just fine tuning the last one a cloud of fish raised. They were pushing each other out of the way to get the gogs. and we trippled right up. Since we had intended to troll we had the tld 25 set out and again were able to work the tripple basically dead boat with a quick perfect score. I even reeeled one in! I popped three more gogs out only to have two whacked by kings and leave me hookless. We dragged the last two baits around for a few minutes and coughed one up to a cuda. We all agreed that we had a good quick run and let the last bait go free and put the motors to the test again. The feeling of having two grumbling under me is just too cool. Four flags flappin for a couple hours work made it all that much sweeter. ![]()

Gonna have to be careful with the new one. That custom fuel pump is offering up a whole lot more ponies than it used to. I was only 2/3 throttle at regular running speed instead of closer to 80 or 90%.
Since it was live baiting cant say whether or not she'll raise the same as she did or if I'll need to do some re dialing in. Sounds right though...

Supposed to swing south on me tomorrow but maybe I'll get lucky and pop a couple more sails... With the break downs it was my toughest year in about 16 years...
