??? Dominican Republic, South Coast, January
Fellow SF'ers,
I know this seems redundant in some ways but I've searched the Dominican content and unless I've missed a detail, I haven't come across anything about fishing the South Coast in January. I will be staying at a town called Juan Dolio. I've searched other web sources and haven't seen much about the DR South Coast. OTOH everything from Puerto Plata to Punta Cana seems to be just bristling with deep sea outfitters. Am I better off to arrange a special trip to Punta Cana? There does appear to be somebody operating out of nearby Boca Chica and Guyacannes (if I have the spelling right) and I am told I can arrange an outing through my resort or one of the hotels in the area. I am more than willing to pay the US$500 - 600 for a deep sea outing but first I have to be sure I'd be hiring a knowledgeable guide and not a fly-by-nighter who just takes tourists out for a boat ride. Another possibility I'm entertaining is to experiment fishing closer to shore with my muskie rod and a kayak. I thank you all in advance for anything you might know about fishing the DR South Coast in January. |
