    Dominican Republic Blues

Found this on another site. Sounds like the fishing in the Dominican is going off.

04/27/07 Capt. Joe Figiel - Reel Tight Report - Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic

Well, here is the latest update late again. Internet is sketchy at best, which is also why there aren't any pictures along with this report.

Fishing is still great here in Casa de Campo, DR. I have not been able to keep up with the other boats fishing. So I don't have daily numbers for them, but here is a quick summary. Ralph Christiansen aboard the PESCADOR has personally caught over 50 fish this year. The BETSY has fished 16 days and released 46 blues. The BANDOLERO was 14 for 18 on blue marlin in a single day. As for us we're still getting our bites but our catch ratio has us striving to catch up. This go around also produced countless wahoo and dorado catches each day. The average wahoo is about 15lb. but some of our dorados were in excess of 40lb.

    April 17th- day one
Raised 9 blues had bites out of 7 and caught 5. We finished the day off with a sucessful double header after 5pm.

    April 18th day 2
raised 4 had 3 bites and landed 1

    April 19th day 3
    raised 4 again 3 bites landed 1

    April 20th day 4
See nothing until 10 min. to 5pm released 1 out of a tripple header and miss another just before 6pm.

    April21st day 5
Raised 7 had bites out of 4 landed none.

    April 22nd day 6
Raise 4 had 2 bites and caught 1

    April 23rd day 7
    Raised 2 with no bites

    April 24th day 8
Raised 1 and it didn't bite either

We won't start fishing again until the 13th of May. As I sit here writting this report the Betsy just pulled in flying 10 blue marlin flags. Awefully impressive numbers for the northern carribean.

    Tight lines,

    Joe Figiel

The Bandolero is a Beautiful boat....I was on it in the Club Naltico Punta Cana White Marlin tournament last May/June. Mostly a White Marlin bite.....I am surprised at the Blue numbers....

The Betsy is a new 80 foot Paul Spencer. Admin took pictures of it at last years Pirates Cove. The Bandolera is such a sweet boat. But all F&S's are sweet.
