Domican Republic - Need Charter Advice

New to forum. Didn't get much help over at FS Forum, so I was advised to try the REAL fishing forum. I'm headed to the DR March 1-9 and need some help finding a good capt and boat. I've done some research online but I'm not sold on any of the boats I've found. After spending a week in Costa Rica with the Hooked On Costa Rica crew, I am spoiled and don't want to get stuck with an overpriced and underfished boat. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Also, I've been told the dorado bite is good and the white marlin will be starting up that time of the year. Any confirmation of the bite I can expect?

I went to the DR last year and stayed at Casa de Campo. I loved the resort. I would highly recommend getting an American boat. The boat we were on was terrible. They had rotten baits and shitty equipment. We got the charter through Casa de Campo. I know Biopsea out of Pirates Cove will be there. I have never fished with them, but I know that they catch fish. Here is the link.

I am not sure of the distance. I do know that Cyntinory and Big Hunter will be in Campo this year. I have also heard that some of the boats that have already made the trip have had some early success on the Blues.

from the Punta Cana hotel area to Casa de Campo it is a 90 minutes one way ride by cabbie.
i operate myself charter boats at the Punta Cana Marina.
take a look on the boats on www.mikesmarina.info/theboats.html
during your visit mid march we have still the dorados(mahi) on, get wahoo, some sails(not in big quantity in the area) and we start white marlin season.
prime time for white's is during april/May/June, by then we even target them on Flytackle, last year's record been a 100lbs white on a 12wt tackle.
if you need recommendations on hotels to stay in the PC area just let me know.
    Mike

The crews down there at Punta Cana love to kill the billfish they catch. Make it clear to the crew before hand that it won't be happening with you on board.
