Capt. Len,
I just meant if you take the time to go through all that is needed for the dolphin permit you might as well get the reef permit. If not you have to go back through the whole process. When I got mine it was so difficult to find and like a lot of people I thought the HMS permit covered those fish also, since they are Highly migratory. This permit is not as easily obtained as the HMS permit! I was just trying to help answer your question!

Captain Ron,
Sorry for the misunderstanding.I hate that I have to get tese permits but the law is the law and the man around here don't PLAY. He frequent our marinas around here and loves to hand out fines. MY Apologizes.
No problemo........ Exactly how I felt and then n top of that we got this new state license this year...... Whens it gonna stop........... I do feel your pain. no apologizes needed
i dont know much about this subject but i was on my uncles boat last summer we where boarded with some peanut dolphin aboard. the officer siad as a private boat we didnt need a permit. but my uncle rented the boat to a capitan to charter so there for we needed a permit. so all in all he siad if the boat your on is used as a charter boat you need a dolphin/wahoo permit.
When you send in your permit app. don't forget the two passport type photos to get you boat operators card. It is another fifty bucks and is REQUIRED to have one on board if yoy are fishing for dolphin and wahoo as a comercial or chater boat..........
If you send in the app without it, they send you a reminder.
