Prone to getting destroyed by the toothy criiters and unlike regular resin heads you can't reskirt the dojos they are done. I have run a few and all but one has been destroyed.

I fish the NE canyons and up here we don't have an overabundance of teeth. The boat I go out on is mostly targeting yellowfin, albacore and bigeye, if we get a billfish great but we rarely pull anyhting that would specifically be targeting them. I have an opportunity to get a decent deal on both the hybrids and some skirted lures. The skirted lures are defintely proven, I was more curious about the hybrids, which I have not heard a lot of reports about and are still fairly new (at least here in the northeast US).

Trini- if they have been destroyed I take it the fish like 'em?

Thanks for what's been shared so far!

Ok those might require a little more creativity...I had never seen the hybrids just the skirted ones...

A hybrid costs around the same as a pair of skirts, so damage is not really a major issue. You can glue or weld them back together to repair most of the types of damages that occur.

As they are new and different I've got lots of info on the website about them:

    http://www.pakula.com.au/Docs/Dojo/HybridInfo.pdf

the hook point does need to be held in position:
    http://www.pakula.com.au/Docs/Dojo/2...okPointUp.html

Some have changed hook size one size up from what they come pre rigged with.

Also re-rigging using wire very much like a single hook skirt rig is pretty common.

In areas of toothy critters a rig with central wire with a free swinging treble off the back will virtually eliminate the lure getting destroyed. We use this rig casting and trolling for Bluefish

    http://www.pakula.com.au/PDF%200809%...id%20Guide.pdf

The Hybrids are a lot of fun to use and have incredible versatility, casting, trolling, on a downrigger, popping, swim them, jig and twitch, drift through bait schools, casting at free swimmers etc, etc, etc. They work from very slow speeds, in fact drifting to normal skirted lure trolling speeds. If you are experienced in setting skirted lures you can run them in any position you run skirted lures in. Destroyers on the Short Positions and Skooners on the long positions. If you're not experienced at setting skirted lures then run the further back and at a lower angle ie run them to a cleat clip or rubber band.

You also have the option of trolling them very slow to maximise your time in the zone. I troll full patterns at 4.5 to 6knots.

When fishing my home waters they are all I use!

    ....... and they're cheap!

We also have a new range of Hard Heads out. Old Style skirted lures with hand polished Resin Heads. They are the original shapes from when I first started pouring and polishing them myself. These are teamed up with the new skirts and additives. The Range is called HotHeads. The new Lumo is better than any before and a new colour Illusion is blitzing it.

If you want a suggestion get a HotHead Small Sprocket in Lumo or Illusion, rig it with a pair of Dojo Strong size 30 Hooks.

For those who don't fish to IGFA rules and regs a rig that has been proving VERY successfull is running a single treble hook with just the eye of the hook in the lure. These hooks are the ones used on big GT poppers.

This is my first post on this great site. Really well done.
