Thumbs up dogfish fishery reopen? thank god

Begining 0001 hrs on February 5, 2007 the state spiny dogfish fishery was reopend. states from new york to norh carolina could re-open their fisheries
to harvest an additional 673,938 pounds od spiny dogfish unit may 1, 2007
when the 2007/2008 fishing season will begin. states may specify their own trip limits for the remainder of this period. at the spint dogfish and coastal shark management board on january 30, 2007 the board voted to allow a maximum harvest of six million pounds for the 2006/2007 fishing season. current spiny dogfish landings are reported to be at 5,526,062 pounds, leaving
a maximum of 673,938 pounds for harvest.

Trip limits still low? even wothwhile to target them now?
to me, go kill alot of them and pretend they"re tuna or bass or something

The quota is still to small but this is a big first step. The dogfish plague is out of control

North Carolina has opened several small test seasons this year. My brother use to love fishing for them until the government closed down the fishery.
Bad news most of the places that use to buy the spiny dogfish have closed due to no product.

That would be the absolute worst possible thing. If those idiots are actually able to get dogfish listed on CITES, that would make it so nobody could buy or sell dogs, and so no fishery could exist here. Can you imagine that? If they made it so the things could never be harvested?

Pick up the latest CFN (commercial fisheries news) there is an artical on it. Looks like its going to happen in your home waters From what it said the people are pissed. I will write the whole artical in here if you cant get the newspaper. I agree if it happens then what? They are allready invading everthing.
